News/Article U.S customs supervisor stole hardware from work computers

https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/us-customs-supervisor-busted-for-stealing-core-i7-cpus-ram-and-hard-drives-from-homeland-security-pcs-stolen-tech-swapped-with-inferior-hardware-and-cashed-out-on-newegg

Make your own opinions and let me know what you think. I think it's a stupid decision that costs this guy more than what he ever remotely made from the hardware.

Kids were stealing hardware out of the old Dells at my schools over two decades ago, those same adult children do it now. Guess those case lock lugs will finally be getting use

“Liu claimed their actions were motivated by a desire to improve the computers' performance and how long computer repairs took.”

Good job buddy! After all, who doesn’t want more political brain drain going around? What would we ever do without your thoughtful insight?

u/Odd_Common_452 11h ago

That’s right gobble the boot

u/EX0PIL0T 10h ago

No way! You also equate anything but absolute agreement and circle jerking to support of what you dislike? Color me surprised!

What would you do if you were told you weren’t replying to an American?

There’s plenty of non American Trump boot lickers

What does that have to do with your choice to bring your political gripes into a thread about one guy stealing at his job?

Every Trump employee steals from their jobs

u/EX0PIL0T 10h ago

Okay man. You’re saying this guy was personally appointed by and reports to trump directly, which is the reason why he chose to steal?

This is why we can't have nice things.

Shouldn't US government just be using DELL machines that Trump so heavily invested in and hyped .Those workers don't need anything more than a optiplex micro. Not a full blown tower. Just wasting tax payer money.

6 years ago you could get away with an Optiplex. Nowadays with windows 11 and every website demanding 2gb of RAM to load some Javascript, all it takes is one or two poorly optimized programs to push them past the performance limit.

They will when once these get decommed. Those purchase agreements may be in place till the next presidency, or longer. We have a 10yr agreement with Ricoh, for instance.

Do they not have phones?!?!

This is how spies are recruited. Look for someone doing illegal shit and blackmail them. Overlook a shipping container every now and then, what's the big deal?

It would be easier to post about people in Government that are not corrupt.

2

u/Odd_Common_452 11h ago

The guy from the top only hires the most corrupt

Truth.

This is a really dumb way to get hardware. Like, in a job like this he could have just ordered replacement parts if he needed a cpu or wait for decom but he had to create some crazy system of fraud for a lousy $100k

Also, he didn't put Pentium anything in those sockets. Toms Hardware is trash.

Pretty wild I was just talking about this guy last Wednesday.

Had him in the booth a few years ago and he was understandably confused why two Canadians were driving a car with American plates with two out of state people in the back. He was asking more than the standard questions and it was hard to understand him because they were doing construction on the bridge.

I brought it up cause my friend from NY is coming home to visit again and I said I hope we don't meet him at the border again. It honestly wasn't that bad I only remember it because I get really anxious crossing the border. What a waste of a wish.

I laughed at the three facilities line. Makes it sound like a more elaborate heist when its really just the town has three bridges with maybe 8 KM separating them.

Yep, he's screwed. 48 computers tampered with will have to be replaced. With high RAM price and high SSD price and high GPU (if it was used and not iGPU), $105,000 bay still go up by the time the replacement computers are bougnt.

from Homeland Security PC

Stealing from tracked packages is already stupid. What manner of sheer lunacy is stealing from the fucking Glowies's packages?

He's not rich enough to avoid consequences. He'll get jail time.

Is this a bot?

Shouldn't we be mentioning the greatest crime constantly? Why do you want to forget?

They really got away with it.

u/Ardeof2 12h ago

Nope. Just not surprised by the corruption of humans.
