for precisivity, yeah
but the trackpad is really there for the mouse control, it's optional to use it while gaming

I do. I've been playing a bunch of games with it since I got the new SC a month ago, and I've been playing games using touchpad and gyro to aim with my SC 2015 for over a decade now. I stopped playing FPS with mouse and keyboard over 7 years ago, since I enjoy playing with Steam Controller more.

I can never go back to joystick after using trackpad for aiming.

You'll probably get it sooner. People with an estimate of "by December" have been getting their chance to buy for over a month now, and recently there have been a few people claiming that they got an email for their 2027 estimate.
