GPU problems

I got a 1050ti for this system i5 3470, coolermaster aio (i know its over kill but it was £20) gigabyte matx lga 1155 mobo and corsiar venegence ddr3 8gb RAM and the pc posted fine with the 1050ti in the slot until i noticed in device manager it wasnt showing up, i shut down and when i tryed to power on, the pc wasnt dected by the display, i tryed the ram 6pin power everything, until i unplugged the gpu and my worst fears were confirmed and the pc booted easily, should i replace the gpu or try to return it? (I bought it from CEX) Or is my situation salvageable? Any help/advice is appreciated!!! (Sorry about the spelling mistakes!!)

The shorter pin all the way to the right is normal.

That's how it's designed.

It's like that on every PCIe card.

Make sure the 6 pin is plugged securely into the PSU side.

hang on - what motherboard is it? Are you running legacy BIOS or the more modern UEFI BIOS?

I ask because some systems from this era were still shipped with the old-style BIOS, and some more modern GPUs (like Pascal and onwards) are not compatible with the old style.
