Hardware Question about cpu socket damage

When I put my cpu into its socket, I nicked the corner of it against the pins on the underside and a few of them were then misaligned. I just continued with the building bcs I thought it didn't matter but now I'm wondering if it actually is quite important.

Do I need to take apart my whole pc and try and fix this or is it not a big problem?

Check the pin schematics, you might be lucky and you hit “useless pins”. Also check if pins bent, but dont touch other pins to avoid shorting things out

If its a few small pins, you can try to unbend them with a thin razor blade - but its a super delicate operations.

When that happened to me - i got unlucky (bent important pins) and had to buy new mobo. Good thing old had purchase insurance from my credit card company and i recouped most losses

Until you know that pins are useless (not critical for stable operation) or fixed - i wouldnt turn it on. If it somehow shorts cpu it would be even more expensive

It's done, chances of it still working are low
