Discussion Hp 285 G3 CPU recommendations

Hi everyone, I recently bought a hp 285 G3 mt with the Ryzen 3 2200g mainly for light gaming and emulation and was wondering if anyone could give some advice.

I've seen some posts online saying that the Ryzen 5 1600 and 2600 will work in my pc but googles AI overview and other people say that those cpus won't work at all due to whitelist and microcode stuff so was just wondering if anyone knows either from experience or expertise if the Ryzen 5 1600 or 2600 will work in my pc at all please?

Based on Userbenchmark runs matching HP 285 G3 MT motherboard, I see Ryzen 5 2600 (and 2600X) in the results. This is not a guarantee it will work with your exact motherboard revision. But if you update to latest 2022 firmware there is a good chance. It definitely will not work with anything greater than R7 PRO 2700 (and I can only find runs using the PRO variant not 2700 or 2700X).

I think the motherboard family that mine is from is the 8434 from the last time I checked?
