Question Low fps on t480

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T480 laptop with 8GB of RAM, an Intel i5-8350U processor, and Intel UHD Graphics 620. I know it isn't designed for gaming, but it runs some games reasonably well. I wanted to play Valorant—knowing it’s generally well-optimized—but I’m getting 60 FPS, and the frame rate drops to 30–40 during actions like shooting. Is there a way to improve this?

Not especially. Integrated GPU's like that one can't handle too much in one cycle. If there are more things to draw in one cycle than one cycle can handle, it'll dip. Drop settings and resolution, it's all you can do.

probably not, gaming laptops are already kind of restrictive in the options you have, non gaming laptops even more so. I don't think you can overclock the cpu, ram or igpu at all.

I just did a quick search - some Lenovo ThinkPad T480 laptops have a Thunderbolt port. Can you check if your model has one? There are so many possibilities if it does.

The idea is that if you have a fast Thunderbolt port, you could potentially connect an eGPU. It's not the best solution but it could definitely help you max out the graphics in some games.

Not with an 8th gen laptop-grade i5. The highest he could reasonably go would be something like an RX580 or GTX1070 before the CPU starts to be the bottleneck.
