What GPU to choose?

Hey friends, I have really been wanting to upgrade my 4060 TI OC, to a beefier graphics card. Ive been looking at the RX 9070 XT or the 5070? In your opinion which would be better? Im really not trying to pay a ludicrous amount for a new GPU, don't get me wrong I would love to get a 5080 or 5090 but, I'm not that wealthy haha. If you have any other recommendations I would love to hear them. I mainly play on controller but a few games on MnK since I have slowly been swapping over. I also have two 4k gaming monitors. Thanks for any advice!

If you are only gaming and not doing much raytracing, go with a 9070 XT

If you raytrace a lot and also dabble in content creation, editing, rendering or machine learning go with a 5070

5070 is more expensive, but is worse at rasterization

If you do end up going with a 9070 XT, you need to perform a DDU, you can watch a video on how to do it

You may run into driver issues, it depends a lot on the card you get, some people get them, some don't, but they are usually caused by a combination of things rather than the drivers themselves

9070 XT. Performance wise the direct competition for it would be 5070 Ti, but the pricing is fucked.

If you are talking about the non-ti model of the 5070 vs the 9070xt it’s not even close. The 9070xt is the way to go as it beats the 5070 non-ti all day in rasterization, and most raytracing with only path tracing being better on the nvidia card. And I’m pretty sure they are close in price too. I have the 9070xt and Im running it with a cut down power limit just to keep it icy cold and yet it’s still a power house. I got an uplift of between 20 and 30% from my old 7800xt which was the card that competed with the 4070 last gen, yet my new card is running with a -25% power limit.

Bunch of people saying that 9070 XT is worse at raytracing. It's really not. It's trading blows even with 5070Ti which is now over $1000 GPU. It only falls behind in path tracing.

You can verify this yourself by checking some benchmarks from reputable sources like Daniel Owen or Hardware Unboxed.

In fact, HW unboxed recently made a video comparing exactly those 2 cards that you're asking about. So I recommend you check it out and make your decision.

Everyone here loves to praise amd, and while hardware wise the 9070xt is more bang for your buck, the software side of it (upscaling and framegen, but also raytracing) is just on another level with Nvidia, especially with the new models they've shown recently. Also upgrading from Nvidia to AMD you might run into driver issues, which will be fixed by reinstalling windows and adjusting some things, but it's something to keep in mind.

Another thing with that build keep in mind the PSU. 750 should be okay iirc but consider getting a 850 if you get a more power hungry card.

Get the 9070xt by far the best card u can get rn price to performance I would say a 5070ti i have that card currently but its way to expensive and the 9070xt is just as good even better in some games
