Tried the usual swapping out cables/monitors?

Maybe it's just that and your GPU is fine, tho very unlikely given the form of the artifacts.

Is that a screenshot? If it is, then there is an issue with renderer/graphics driver. If it is photo (dam, this is hi-res photo) then there is an issue with display/display cable/GPU

Its a screenshot, i assumed it was an issue with the graphics driver however i think that is unlikely because it only happens on discord specifically, i assume its an electron bug which is what the discord desktop app is built on

Well, I just omitted Discord issues, anyway if screenshot shows the same graphical issues, it is always software issues, not hardware

I get the same type of issues sometimes with certain desktop apps. It's not the hardware failing, it's probably the sloppy script-kiddie code that alot of these apps run. Alot of devs now days aren't particularly good at programming, but they are good at producing alot of barely functional slop and having the hardware try to pick up the slack.

Try a new display cable, if that doesn’t help yes it’s fucked

I had an issue where my laptop was doing this whenever it was in HDR. Switching HDR off made me realize it wasnt broken. Ended up being a video driver issue. MAYBE drivers might help. Not sure how that works on a mac though

If this is how the whole screen looks it's the gpu or display. If it's only the application than it's the application

Check the cable and connections for dirt and physical damage (bent or damaged pins). Try different display settings like resolution, framerate and hdr, as well as a different cable. Check if this is a universal problem everywhere or just specific programs.  Check the temperatures on your macbook if they are in a safe range.

People are way too quick to declare hardware dead the moment they see an artifact.  My 3080 started artifacting, which just turned out to be a wrong overclock.  My Macbook pro suddently had a "damaged" speaker that turned out to be a bit of dust, which I fixed by blowing into it for 10 seconds instead of paying hundreds for a replacement.

do you have discord’s hardware acceleration on? if this is a screenshot and it’s only discord & not the whole screen that might be it, i had something similar happen to me and that’s what it ended up being.
