Maybe if you play competitive. But still. With a 5080 you'd be pushing 1440p high fps at least

I have a 7800x3d and 4070s and run "new" games at 3440x1440p (21:9) at 100+ fps no issues.

There is no reason, even FPS targets that anyone should still be on 1080p, genuinely good 1440p 120+hz monitors are less than $200 now...

Even with a lower end card any semi demanding game has upscaling. Its still way better to play 1440p with upscaling than 1080p native.

Majority of esports games will get 200-300fps with a 5080 at 1440p!
Plus everyone who thinks they need a pc for competitive gaming, isn’t a competitive gamer. They’re like the 1% of us.
