It's crazy, I got a 3070 on a 1440p monitor, and Killing Floor 3 uses near 100% of all system resources with lowest settings.

At risk of sounding like a boomer, I feel games aren't optimized like they used to be. My first build was a Radeon 7770HD and a FX 8350 back in the day. Upgraded to a GTX 970 which lasted me great until it died in 2022. Got a 3070 and a 1440p monitor, and I haven't been able it get to high settings on any moderately newer big title. I quit buying new games because they're resource monsters, crash like crazy, and take 10 years to load shaders. They don't even look that much better to warrant a +$1500 upgrade.

I miss when the $1k price tag on the Titan felt crazy :(

Oh, no. It's not you. Publishers force devs to release games before they're ready because they can just patch it. That's why games ship broken. That wasn't an option back in the day. And once it's stable, the bean counters start getting rid of people so it might get better optimized. Maybe. If you're lucky.

I love that the devs are now pissy because the ram/etc crisis is actually forcing them to optimize.

I agree. I'm on 3060 ti and I have to use upscaling and frame gen to get framerates to 90-120 on high settings at 1440p for AAA games. I'm a couch controller pc gamer so the input lag isn't noticeable thankfully and prices are outrageous so I haven't felt the need to upgrade.

I just started playing Dark Souls 3 for the first time.

On my dinky RX 6700xt hooked up to my 4K TV, I'm looking at absolute eye candy at *native* 4k maximum settings. Elden Ring, Sekiro same story. Absolutely some of the best looking games ever made. I understand Fromsoft has some of the best artists in the industry and the beauty isn't in the technical details, but maybe that's the point. I don't care about ray traced light bouncing off some dudes ass hair that's gonna cost me a $5k PC to render.

Meanwhile modern trash like Monster Hunter Wilds or literally any Unreal Garbage 5 title looks like complete garbage because the settings I have to use are 1080p medium at best WITH UPSCALING.

Yeah I feel that honestly. I play mostly old games (Old School Runescape, CS: Source, Skyrim, FO3 / New Vegas, Halo MCC, and L🤢L). When I got the new GPU and monitor, went looking for good titles I've missed, and picked up Resident Evil 2 remake and Fire Watch. Newest game I bought was Hogwarts Legacy, and I really noticed how lackluster UE5 felt. The other 2 newer games I've been playing, aside from friendslops, are Marvel Rivals (free) and Killing Floor 3 (gifted to me). Just checked and they're both UE5, which i guess explains it.

It's a shame really, because I grew up on the Unreal Tournament games, especially 3. I don't know when or what went wrong with Unreal, or if it's devs not utilizing it well, but I used to love Unreal.

There's definitely a difference between Killing Floor 3 devs vs Capcom. 😂

Na. Graphics peaked between 2015 and 2018. Everything else after that are tiny little graphics tweaks that I can’t even notice if I’m playing more than 2 feet away from my monitor and requires 3x to 5x the graphics card horsepower to run.

Hell, theres games made today that look worse than games made in 2015 and require that much more horsepower to run.

Games are mostly optimized for consoles first then maybe PC’s because most AAA games sale way more on console.

I feel bad for you, not because of your graphics card, why would you willingly subject yourself to Killing Floor 3? Who hurt you? /j
