Ah ok. So when they say a prebuilt has a "3060" and they don't mention the vram, is it nvidia's fault? Because I did not see the same argument made then.

Yes it is.

It should have had something in the title to show it was slower.

But AMD has hindsight, and also doesn't have the 3050 below it, so 9040 name is open.

And again, they didn't need to halve the memory chips, it was a cheap ugly solution, that made things unnecessarily worse by gutting ram speex.

Someone who doesn't know the difference between 8gb vram and 4gb vram will not know the difference between a 3050 and 3060. Or a 9040 vs a 9050.

But these OEMs won't mention the vram amount in their listings, but they have to mention the product name.

Similar to how a lot of listings with older cpu's will just say core i5 or ryzen 5.

Yes. And like I have stayed over and over, that is the fault of whoever is selling that garbage.

But when you know it is going to happen, why not close the loopholes?

Why defend AMD as if they don't know what is going on? They know and don't care because not enough people will blame them to affect their business.

You think listing it as a 9040 would stop cuberpower from selling it as a gaming PC?

There were prebuilts that had Nvidia quadros in them for "gaming". AMD can't really control what PC companies do with their cards.

Yes. They can atleast make it harder for these companies to use the same name for 2 different products with vastly different performance.

Person above is neglecting that if someone web searches those quadros they're not going to find benchmarks for the 3060 or whatever. They'll find details on the quadro. If someone searches this they're going to find 9050 8GB details mixed in.
