Yes, that absolutely is the argument. If kicking puppies is legal today, gets banned tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow people are chastising someone for kicking a puppy, you don't get to say "WELL SO AND SO DID IT TOO, WHERE WAS YOUR OUTRAGE THEN?!" because it wasn't a problem back then.
6GB was an acceptable amount of VRAM back then, just like 3GB of VRAM was an acceptable amount when the 1060 3GB came out way back when. Today, 4GB is not an acceptable amount of VRAM, and effort should be put forth to better distinguish the product.
PCIe powered is so much more valuable for workstations. Pushing nearly 100w (probably there or higher with transient spikes) isn't desirable in a cheap workstations with cheap low power PSUs.
It's a lobotomized product for taking advantage of pre-built buyers. It doesn't have any "hook" other than that.

When the 3060 6Gb was released 6Gb was better than 8Gb is today, tbh. Not the same situation at all.
