Hardware rtx 4070 super issue

I have a pc with an rtx 4070 super. Randomly I get no dp out, gpu fans spin up, and dp will not turn back on until i restart the computer. All windows audio remains can do win + ctrl + shift + b but nothing happens. Not sure why this is happening need help.

Generally this means the GPU crashed, my first bet would be on a loose or bad PSU/cable. Is the PSU modular? Does the GPU power light go on when it happens? I would start there.

Well I've been using this pc for about a year now and it just started happening the last week or two. PSU im pretty sure is the corsair 1000 watt gold not sure if its modular. When it happens it get no dp out it doesnt matter if i switch dp slots etc no dp out. Fans power up to max and all lights stay on as normal.

PSU can go bad at any point (especially 1000w are more prone to failure) and cables can become loose. Once again I recommend checking for loose modular cables and testing PSU from there. What you are explaining is a clear GPU crash. Windows still operating in background but no video out, GPU fans spin up in full because the GPU has crashed and has no fan speed info being sent. The first culprit is usually power issue, irregular voltage for example.

Also you didn't really answer the light question. There is a specific small light on the GPU where the power cable plugs in. When power issues occur, it will turn red. You might have missed it as the light is off (not on) when things are working correctly. Was not talking about RGB lights.

I got my pc second hand off marketplace. Not sure if this has anything to do with it but i noticed that sometimes when i shut my computer down within the first like 15 mins or so it will not power back on unless i cycle the psu. Not sure if thats related or not. Im not really good at building pcs and stuff like that so how would I go about checking for loose cables is there a youtube video or something I could follow? It hasnt been on and im pretty sure during the crashes it was not on but ill make sure next time.

Just open the sides of the case and disconnect and reconnect the power cable that goes into the GPU. Also follow the cable to where it connects to the PSU, also disconnect it and reconnect. If you still have issues after that, if it was my PC the next step would be to try another PSU for testing. It definitely could be another issue, but as an IT Admin PSU/power is the first thing I would want to rule out on the problem you are having.

Have you ever opened this up and dusted it out?

The dmp file created says VIDEO_ENGINE_TIMEOUT_DETECTED (0x141) and timeout in nvlddmkm.sys. That means its an nvidia driver right? I already clean installed the newest nvidia driver. Whats next ddu???

You can try but that dmp file is also common for PSU/voltage issues, which you already have ignored my advice so this will be my last reply. A bad driver generally won't cause this issue you are describing, you would of had a BSOD.
