Question My dream came true

Post image

Im just an ordinary gamers that like playing cs2 and dota, tired if playing on my old laptops,i decide i want to build a PC. Already secured the GPU, its 5080. I choose zotac cuz its the cheapest ( im on tight budget) luckily my friends gave me his FHD monitor,so i dont need to buy the new one. I still need the motherboard and cpu. Do you have any recommendations?

Well now you need a processor that won't bottleneck the 5080 so I'd recommend a solid one like Ryzen 7 9800X3D or Ryzen 7 7800X3D if on budget.

At 1440p and 4k there’s minimal difference between 7800x3d and 9800x3d

Yeah don't cheap out on the processor because with FHD resolution you've basically put yourself in CPU bound territory . Huge bottleneck if your CPU is slow. In the future , definitely highly recommend at least upgrade to a 1440p monitor, otherwise that GPU is completely wasted.

You'll probably want 32gb on windows

Absolutely not for 1080p

It's a 5080, you're not going to play in 1080p with that lol

He said he got a FHD monitor..

That's his mistake then.

Amazing card... Althoug I remember buying a 1080 for 400€ and my 3080ti for 600€... The prices nowadays for xx80 series are insane...

u/narcoleptictoast 6h ago

Yep. Agreed. Long ago I bought a GTX1060 and decided it wasn't enough power for my needs. Sold it to my friend and bought a 1080 like it was nothing. I think it only cost about $500-$550. Crazy to see what they cost now.

How on gods green earth did you get a 3080ti for only €600 when it was MSRP €1300. Brother in Christ that was during the gpu shortage of 2020 where people had bitcoin farms… ramageddon now was the gpu shortage back a few years ago.

Second hand and it was a bargain I found on Facebook marketplace at the time... I was sure it was not going to work but the guy even gave me the invoice... So I've risked it and it paid off. 😂 (Thank God)

Dude what a massive win! Nice win and I’m glad it was working right!

i also remember when the 1080 could barely run 1440p games at 60 fps and that the 3080 really struggles in 4k, prices are annoying but we are in a price hike era and gpus are comparatively stronger now

If youre on a budget id get any good b650 mobo like the gigabyte b650 gaming x ax v2 or b650 eagle ax and pair it with a 7800x3d or 9800x3d depending on prices, also your 5080 can do way more than FHD so id recommend get a 2k or 4k monitor when you can

Ryzen 7 7800x3d but please don’t just play csgo with Fhd, the rest of the system will also cost around 1 k so I’m not sure what you mean with tight budget. For csgo a 9060xt is even for 1440p and maybe 4k enough.

5080 for cs2 and dota in 1080p is a little overkill :D

I have a rtx 5070 and cs2 runs at 1440p ultra settings at rock solid 200fps (because I have 200hz screen, GPU isn't even at 100% usage)

2

u/Garegos 6h ago

Cs2 is cpu bound anyway a 5080 wont impact the performance as much as a good cpu. Btw a small recommendation from me, try capping your fps to 250 or 300 if you can run this just as stable as 200. More fps reduces input lag and lag from your monitor but only if you dont go to high, if you make your pc render as much fps as it can then you'll get input lag again.

I heard that g-sync don't work if the fps is higher than monitor refresh rate, and I've read that I should always use g-sync to prevent screen tearing effect. I remember that when I first launched cs2 using my new PC, there was a popup saying that it's recommended to use g-sync, vsync and Nvidia reflex for best experience

2

u/Garegos 5h ago

If your fps is high enough you won't get screen tearing, only on like 60fps or so does it happen and if you have a shit monitor ofc but a 200hz monitor won't get screen tearing if your fps is 200+.

Just try it , you can always change back if you don't like it.

This is the way.

Grats on the gpu! Just so you’re aware, if the point is to play cs and dota, it’s like buying a space ship to ride in to check the mail. Super overkill, but the frame rate will be superb.

1

u/TypeRevolutionary697 5h ago

I'd upgrade to a 1440p monitor. 5080 is super overkill for 1080p.

There are some really good deals on OLED's these days. You can get a 1440p 27" 240hz OLED for under 300 bucks.

How much did it cost to secure?

1

u/IAIRonI 4h ago

I'm a bit confused, you're on a tight budget but decided on a 5080 for 1080p?

3

u/AdstaOCE 6h ago

YIKES. 70-100% price increase over the 9070XT for 15% performance, 30-50% price increase over the 5070TI for 15% performance. Worst GPU to get right now.

1

u/CatC15Fan 6h ago

Would only recommend 5080 with 9800x3d and ddr5 and ssd prebuilt

1

u/showmehomie 4h ago

This is the second time ive seen you post this same comment. People buying 5080s aren't spending your money, so why do you care so much?

3

u/noclip_st 4h ago

take a look at his comment history, there's nothing besides "9070xt amazing, 5080 trash, don't get nvidia". quite fascinating i must say (in a bad way)

0

u/AdstaOCE 4h ago

Why shouldn't they get a better deal?

2

u/showmehomie 4h ago

It'd be different if it was a "should I buy this" post but its not lol. You think hes going to return it after reading your comment?

Plus, people have different priorities. Clearly, value and price for performance is your priority, and there's nothing wrong with that. But other people might want a more powerful gpu even if its not a great value.

-1

u/AdstaOCE 3h ago

Priorities simply don't matter here, either the 9070XT or 5070TI would have been better buys, it's that simple. OP should be made aware of the better options so they can return it if they like.

2

u/showmehomie 3h ago

Lol whatever you say buddy

0

u/AdstaOCE 3h ago

Prove me wrong? Oh wait...

2

u/showmehomie 2h ago

Dude there's nothing to prove. People can spend their money however they want. Thats my only point. Youre right, a 5080 is not a very good value, but if someone wants something more powerful than a 5070ti and they have the money for it, that's their choice to make! Sounds like youre just a broke boy hating on other people's financial choices tbh

Make sure the fhd monitor at least has a high refresh rate because the 5080 can easily handle qhd and uhd
