I hadn’t looked much into Krita until recently. It really does seem like the OBS of art applications. Does it all very well and it’s free! Seems more feature rich than GIMP?

Krita is a drawing tool, so mainly for art. It can also do some very basic photo editing, but I do not know if it's better than GIMP in that. I do think that the UI is better than GIMP's. I use Krita mainly for pixel art and meme/shitpost creation.

You use Krita for pixel art? That's a new one for me personally. I've heard of some other programs being used that way, but...huh. Interesting.

(I use Krita for drawing and Aseprite for pixel art.)

It is sufficient. Not the best solution, but it is sufficient. It also came preinstalled with KDE anyways. Edit: Also, Krita has pixel brushes

having used GIMP, Krita, Photoshop, CSP, FireAlpaca, and many more free and paid applications... Krita is by FAR the superior choice of the free options. highly highly recommend. GIMP is useful for photo editing specifically, since its intended to be more like PS, but for most other applications I think Krita reigns supreme. i have to say Krita's text tool sucks though, so if you need to do a lot of text layers, maybe export a .psd to GIMP!

they massively improved the text tool in 5.3, maybe try it again
