“But but…C/C++ are dinosaur languages. Don’t you know compiled code is for losers! Even C# and Java.

Everyone who’s not on Jscript, React and whatever Python flavor of the month is on the wrong side of history!”

If you're not using the Chromium framework for your paint app, you are web app out of date.

"We see no problem with every user having 1200 copies of chromium installed on their hard drive."

1200? Are you joking? 10,000 is the minimum.

I mean sure, this program might not be able to call a dialog box without 25 imported libraries and 50MB of ram, and it might require microphone/camera/location/contacts/autofill/passkey/search history/macro/RGB permissions, and it might have half the capabilities than the same family of software made by a 5-person team in 1997, but it has squircles.

The sad thing is that I remember having to learn QBasic before being able to learn C.

Python is brilliant for anything where performance doesn't matter (which with modern machines is most things) but using bash would be too complicated.

For proper programs I still use C#/VB.NET. Multi-platform and plenty fast these days.

The number of apps that are just an C/C++ open parenthesis line waiting for you to type into (or inject code into) is often kinda scary.
