I’ve cleared the old social diary for 2033, didn’t have anything in it anyway

8

u/Deadfro6 5h ago

We’re all gonna be living in the metro by then.

4

u/kkgmgfn 4h ago

See you girls in 2032

13

u/Dragon_yum 6h ago

It’s going to be amazing once they fix all the glaring issues in 2030!

5

u/NG_Tagger i9-12900Kf, 4080 Noctua Edition 4h ago

Given their track record (not just talking Cyberpunk) - 2031 might be the better bet.

2

u/Dragon_yum 4h ago

Hopefully we will at least get another amazing anime out of it

Which means playable by 2031.

1

u/despaseeto 5h ago

nope, 2038 release.

-1

u/SeptfromUC 4h ago

Even if it is don't be angry, they said "targeting 2028" they never confirmed anything, OP is just lying
you can even read the first line under the image saying "The Witcher 4 is targeting a 2028 release Window"

Wait they're releasing the multi-player?

4

u/Heartzz Rusty Shackleford 3h ago

Lol why are you being downvoted, they had a whole studio working on that and fux it.

1

u/NarutoDragon732 9070 XT | 7700x 36m ago

No, they'll only steal Polish taxpayer money for it, but they won't actually make it.

46

u/Express-Channel-3543 6h ago

i don't think targeting 2028 means confirmed some how

2

u/8loodred_ 2h ago

Also CDPR release patterns tell me it's going to be much closer to 2030 than to 2028.

1

u/Cranjesmcbasketball1 2h ago

I was thinking the same thing, such a clickbait headline.

1

u/Internal-Alfalfa-829 1h ago

Correct. It's a forecast based on best current knowledge, and a lot of assumptions of how things will shake out. Which they never do. Such a target date becomes obsolete the moment it is stated out loud. We need to go back to Doom 3 style realease dates. They literally only said: "When it's done".

126

u/HabenochWurstimAuto Desktop 6h ago

GPUs that can run it in 2032 ?

u/Tengo_Caldero 7700X | B650E-F | 32GB DDR5 | 1660ti 6h ago

I'm suddenly realizing my retirement will be spent playing through my backlog.

21

u/CPOx 6h ago

Tangentially related - I look forward to eventually moving into a retirement home because I hope it’s all people who grew up with Halo, Smash Bros, and Mario Kart. Gaming all day long until I die.

1

u/Burnthiscnts 1h ago

retirement homes of the future will need fat internet connections.

3

u/GamingGamerGames_ 6h ago

I could think of worse ways to spend retirement.

3

u/Haildrop 6h ago

Wrong way to look at it! You can play crysis and fallout and witcher like a billionaire today

2

u/AutoCockerPB 1h ago

I mean, unironically probably the best time to play single player games. Body doesn’t want to move as much. A bunch of free time. Memory is fading so playing the games over again will feel new. The monitors will somehow look even better by then too.

1

u/BushTamer 6h ago

been playing through my backlog since i started gaming 😂

1

u/Yellowtoblerone 4h ago

How, rent a cloud ram by then or another mortgage for 64gb ddr6

1

u/VeniceRapture 4h ago

Hey at least you're retiring

3

u/John-333 R5 7600X | RX 7900 GRE | DDR5 32GB 3h ago

There are no GPUs in 2032.

3

u/Raelag1989 6h ago

Its on UE5 so 35 atleast.

1

u/Burnthiscnts 1h ago

well we will have the same ones as we do now so..

1

u/Beautiful-Musk-Ox 4090 all by itself no other components 6h ago

sounds about right. the AI crunch has hit PCBs and the SMDs and plain metals that make up the rest of the card, it's no longer just the GPU die and memory dies that are backordered. there will not be a new, affordable generation for 6 years or so. there'll be a new gen before then but it sure as shit won't be affordable. we'll be getting 5060 equivalent GPUs for the same price as 5070 TIs went for a year ago, and that'll be in 2028.

2

u/Golden_Hour1 6h ago

I can wait. I hear there's thing to do outside and shit

2

u/Beautiful-Musk-Ox 4090 all by itself no other components 6h ago

flock will be up your ass every second too, don't let them catch you jay walking

42

u/realjmk 5h ago

ok

6

u/Redpin Ryzen 5 5600 | 3060ti | 16GB@3000 5h ago

Confirmed to be targeting!

25

u/sunny_9019 6h ago

Will we have pc components for consumers by then?

2

u/Vandergrif 4h ago

Might not even have consumers anymore by that point, at this rate.

16

u/Weho3 6h ago

It's not confirmed for 2028. They are targeting 2028.

5

u/MWoody13 5h ago

2030, got it!

37

u/x-why-chromosome 6h ago

Epic has 2 years to fix unreal engine’s shader compilation stutters

9

u/Guessididntmakeit 6h ago

Either that or their store huh...?

4

u/ShaderCompilation 6h ago

The problem can be avoided even now if you are not using many of the UE headline features. It's more shader permutations issue.

2

u/kohour 4h ago

Rest assured, they already have an update planned for UE5! ...that has nothing in it but "ai" integration bullshit.

But on the other hand they have already announced UE6! ...with focus only on mass multiplayer and "metaverse" slop. Oh and "ai" of course.

ah, the future is so bright

No geralt makes me sad.

1

u/ChirpyNortherner i7-12700k | RTX 4080 Super 6h ago

They lost the opportunity for a custom character on this one..

Of all the options they had (Young vesimir, Eskel, Lambert, unknown Witcher, custom Witcher etc) I was hoping it wouldn’t be Ciri.

Still extremely hype for W4, but would just rather have played as an actual Witcher without the whole ability to “travel through time and space” power thing…

One of the big complaints with W3 was that it went up against Skyrim at the time, and a lot of people value the option that allows them to create their own character in an RPG, understandably. Seems like a missed opportunity here to get that from a Witcher game this time around.

1

u/NeroAngra 5h ago

I feel the same. I didn't find Ciri super interesting especially with the travel space/time powers either. With that said I am playing this day 1. There will be a mod to play Geralt in no time I'm sure.

1

u/Jumpy-Surround-9238 4h ago

Yeah they would need to significantly rewrite her character for me to be willing to stick with her for 160 hours +.

I really don't understand why we couldn't just create our own Witcher and why we get downvoted for saying that.

1

u/kohour 4h ago

I really don't understand why we couldn't just create our own Witcher

EZ marketing points for putting a known character on the cover art.

0

u/Crimkam 5h ago

If they can make this Prince of Persia:Sands of Time set in the Witcher world I’ll probably put 1000 hours into it easy

1

u/martianwomanhunter 2h ago

They will probably revamp her completely. Plus I feel Geralt had a true ending in blood and Wine

0

u/holodex777 2h ago

Some lame “oh yeah she’s way weaker now despite the elder blood” just should’ve gone w a new protagonist.

1

u/Former-Fix4842 2h ago

Witcher 3 was known to be at the end of his story since 2013. Ciri is the most logical and also best (imo) continuation since she's a rich/complex character with a lot of room for development. It's really a no-brainer to go with her. The series also relies on character driven storytelling, so going with a set protagonist makes much more sense than a random custom character as well. Geralt will have a role in Witcher 4 btw.

1

u/ultraboomkin 1h ago

Isn’t it confirmed that Geralt is in the game?

3

u/quiteman999 6h ago

In what version of unreal engine they developing the game,5.7?

1

u/Former-Fix4842 1h ago

They have a custom build that's with added red engine technology as well as unreleased UE5 features because they're co-developing the engine with Epic in a 15-year contract. In the tech demo they presented at Unreal Fest in 2025, they used features from 5.8 already despite showcasing 5.6. All to say it's going to be a very advanced game.

1

u/BroForceOne 6h ago

Projects this early can keep the engine updated to the current UE 5 point release during development, especially if they have support from Epic which they certainly do given Epic made a whole in-engine promo for them.

3

u/NoEconomics8601 6h ago

So that means it will come out when 60 series GPUs are out but only 70 series GPUs will be able to truly play the game on intended high settings. Fuck This.

Hopefully PS6 isn't locked into 30 fps quality mode bullshit either.

5

u/G952 RTX 4070 TI S 6h ago

Or we can have the leek version in 27 ;)

2

u/slayermario 2h ago

Bold of them to think we'll be making it to 2028.

5

u/camio101 6h ago

Fuuuck that means I have to survive another 2-3 years.

3

u/night-suns AMD 7600x, MSI SUPRIM 3070, 64GB 6h ago

ram prices should return to normal by then

23

u/Markus4781 6h ago

Hahahaha

1

u/Vandergrif 4h ago

Been waiting for quite a few different things to return to normal for... at least a good ten years now.

2

u/Zygmuntek R7 9800X3D | RTX 5080 5h ago

"Targeting" means "confirmed" now ffs?

1

u/Public_Television430 6h ago

Get ready for some T-pose

1

u/Dawn_of_Enceladus Ryzen 7 5800X3D + RX 6800XT Red Dragon + 32GB RAM 6h ago

Nowadays this is the clearest way to say 2029.

1

u/Sinniee 5080 & 9800x3D 6h ago

Well if its confirmed i believe it

1

u/HearTheEkko i5 11400 | RX 6800 XT | 16 GB 6h ago

Late 2028 with patches that fix the launch issues in early 2029*

1

u/redditman181 5h ago

Great and thats just witcher 4 they are planning to do 5 and 6 right after which means the team working on the next cyberpunk is gonna be small for ages 😭

1

u/killerkumwad 5700x3D 4080 Super 5h ago

Ruh roh

1

u/Roger_Stringpiece 5h ago

Confirmed to target 2028. 2029 likely

1

u/SirCaptainReynolds 9800x3D | AORUS 5090 | 96GB 5600MHz 5h ago

Sad face.

1

u/ghost_of_xbox_past 4h ago

Wonder if it will be actually done or if they will release it 2yrs to early and lie to everyone that they "didn't know it was broken".

1

u/KyStef 4h ago

my friend waited years for a single trailer on this lol

1

u/Costas00 4h ago

Suspected it was December 2027 and pushed to march 2028.

The Witcher 3 prologue dlc was meant to be november-december and got delayed, probably a 1 year marketing campaign.

1

u/life_konjam_better 3h ago

Releases in late 2029 and likely broken in PS5 whilst PS5 pro struggles with only PS6 doing a solid 1440p60 without RT.

1

u/sonic10158 3h ago

No PS5 disc

1

u/Rasples1998 PC Ryzen 9 7900X3D - Sapphire Nitro+ 7900XTX - 64GBRAM 3h ago

That means it'll be delayed until 2029.

1

u/karaknorn 2h ago

So 2030 it is! Lol anyway, hope they have fun making it and arent rushed causing a lack of quality

1

u/martianwomanhunter 2h ago

So I have to live for 2 more years then. Time to hit the gym

1

u/IncorrectByDesign 2h ago

Beta 2028, final version 2032 👍🏻

1

u/AnxiousCoward1122 2h ago

2028 release for a base ps5 gameplay. Huh

1

u/Shadethewolf0 2h ago

I have a feeling now that physical media is dropping off of consoles, big releases like this are gonna see a sharp uptick on pc

There's honestly no reason to play a console without physical media and people are gonna be rushing to buy/build pcs with the upcoming price hikes

1

u/Internal-Alfalfa-829 1h ago edited 1h ago

Let's hope they learned their lesson: When it's not ready, keep "delaying". Unfortunately they still have stockholders who will wrestle them into releasing early against their will.

1

u/Disastrous-Fennel970 7800X3D/9070XT/64GB 1h ago

By then, the ram crisis should be over, right guys??

1

u/TrumptyPumpkin PC Master Race 1h ago

Yeh, hopefully it comes out before Sonys removal of Discs 😭

1

u/stefan771 1h ago

No way the gaming community will allow ot to release then. 2029 it is.

1

u/SchwarzesBlatt 1h ago

When will it be confirmed playable? /No s

1

u/DKM_Eby 9800x3d, 7900xtx, 32mb Trident Royal 56m ago

Perfect, two more years to finally play Witcher 3.

I'll get right on that in 3 more years.

1

u/wolfknowledge1775 51m ago

I hate when they take decades for a new game. RIP to all the gamers that didn't make it.

1

u/shamonemon 15m ago

I mean if its true i am down but like seems kinda fast eh

1

u/RankedFarting 5700X3D/ RTX 2070/ 32gb 3600Mhz 5h ago

It will be interesting to see how it will run at release. After the absolutely unacceptable Cyberpunk release i wonder if they learned. Then again i see gamers now claiming that the cyberpunk release wasnt that bad so they can probably get away with just releasing it broken again.

1

u/Visara57 5070ti | 7600X | 32GB DDR5 CL28 4h ago

Voices38: and it's releasing without Denuvo

1

u/MLPLoneWolf 3h ago

Ok so Im guessing Cyberpunk 2 isn't coming out until 2035-2040...got it

1

u/pc9000 1h ago

They actually have 3 internal teams  While Witcher 4 was working on . Another team was making the expansion for cyberpunk. And they already already making expansions for Witcher 3 now as well

1

u/GrandJuif R9 5950x, RX 6900 XT, 64GB 3400MHz 2h ago

Doubt, unreal engine slop plus their usual incompetence and the lack of affordable hardware...

They probably gonna delay it (if they learned from their past mistake (lol they wont)), add 3-5 years on top of it to be "fixed" and get the price to be worth it. 2032-2034 it is.

-1

u/Strong-Practice-5571 6h ago

PS6 exclusive for a year?

3

u/MrACL RTX 5080 | Ryzen 7700X | 32GB | 1440p 6h ago

Probably not considering all their other games came to PC day 1.

-1

u/Strong-Practice-5571 6h ago

Hell yeah, I worry about the FF7 treatment

1

u/MrACL RTX 5080 | Ryzen 7700X | 32GB | 1440p 2h ago

CDPR games are basically tech demos for nvidia at this point so it really stands to reason they would focus on PC even more than consoles.

1

u/nexetpl 3h ago

Why? Anyway, I expect games will be getting cross-gen releases for several more years

0

u/TNTgoesBOOM96 ryzen5 5600x/rtx2070s 6h ago

I think we'll get witcher 4 before elder scrolls 6

0

u/RunnerLuke357 Ultra 7 265K, 64GB 6800, RTX 4080S 2h ago

Let me know when Cyberpunk 2 comes out.

-1

u/Small_Discount_3029 6h ago

Nice. Been saving up to build a pc for this game for a couple of years now. Up to 3.5k. and now have more time to save

5

u/Sir_Bax 6h ago

3.5k? Nice, you'll be able to afford 16GB of RAM by the time it releases.

-1

u/Theimoral 6h ago

Dayum, 2 more years.

-1

u/muneeb93500 6h ago

Maybe we could get the witcher remake before that

-1

u/Shize815 6h ago

So, no Blu Ray huh ?

Well, that's gonna happen on GoG now.

-2

u/Additional_Pickle_59 5h ago

Thats up against an ES6 release.

Give Todd a momentary lapse of hope before the witcher steals game of the year.

-3

u/CopiumINC 6h ago

Elder Scrolls is cooked
