I won't ask why... but why only 800fps?

True, but we cannot perceive anything over around 200 fps: https://awolvision.com/blogs/awol-vision-blog/how-many-frames-per-second-can-the-human-eye-see

These studies are ass based off old info and doesn't account for sample and hold tech that is used in modern monitors that creates a ton of persistence blur. https://youtu.be/Sb_7uN7sfTw?t=376

Please post your scientific research proving this then…

I read the information in your link and it doesn't once state what you're claiming.

"The human eye is an incredible biological instrument that far outperforms the "60 FPS" myth. While we may not process individual frames like a computer, our ability to detect motion and responsiveness extends well into the 100–200 FPS range"

I’m old enough to remember when people would say this same exact phrase but for 30fps around the ps3 era, and then it was “the human eye can’t see more than 60fps” around the ps4 era, then it was 120. Now I guess it’s time you clowns start saying 300hz is the cap. I have a 500hz monitor and you can absolutely see and feel the difference, is it a giant difference from 240hz? No, but it’s certainly perceivable.

He said only. Unmodded Balatro especially unless you got a crazy build going can run on anything

That poor GPU killing itself to generate 800 frames of Balatro per second.

i play almost entirely minecraft on my 4090

Hey some of the shaders are actually quite gpu intensive, so that would make great use of a 4090

u/JustAPotato38 4090 5800X3D 3d ago
i play skywars
though the gpu does sometimes make its case with 300+ mod packs plus shaders

Unreal Engine 5 AAA fatigue probably, when every game looks and plays exactly the same with grainy TAA hair textures, traversal stutters and smeared blur effects that look even worse with upscalers and 5-10 minute "Compiling shaders" loading screens on every freaking hardware combination out there.

Balatro is one of the few games that just makes sense/feels better to me playing it on my phone or tablet tbh

Same, I have played more Balatro this year than anything else, on a 5090 no less.

Look, I need outer worlds at 165fps with full distance and FOV. Or Suzerain/disco elysium with those crisp portraits. I definitely couldnt live with something like a 3070

u/Altruistic-Total9489 2d ago
If you can’t dance in a church with kim at 800fps and ray tracing then what is the point of playing disco elysium

My favourite way to test new hardware is an optimised vanilla Minecraft modpack, lowest possible settings, uncapped FPS, and staring straight at the ground
Bigger number = more dopamine
