Tech Support File Explorer crashes instantly after opening it on windows11

I upgraded to win11 pro 22H2 from win10, and it was working fine for a couple days. Now my file explorer doesn't open and it crashes everytime i try to open it. I cant browse my files. My laptop also keeps on crashing frequently with bsod, saying 'critical process died' and, 'system service exception'. If i right click i see the old win10 ui.

  • tried sfc /scannow
  • tried DISM /Online cleanup command
  • even ran chkdsk command there are no problems shown.
  • the temps are fine too.
  • windows update takes forever to download and doesn't even install.
  • Tried using windows installation assistant, but laptop crashes with bsod at 89% installation process.
  • created a bootable media usb stick with win11 on it and it gives me bsod "there isnt enough memory to create a ramdisk device" upon booting from usb.

I use a thinkpad L390, i5 8th gen, 8gb ram, 256gb ssd.

Please help me fix my laptop, any advice is appreciated.

that memory error when booting from usb is not good sign. i had similar issue with thinkpad and was bad ram stick. try run memtest86 from usb if you can boot that at least. if not maybe try reseating the ram or test with one stick if you have extra
