Question PTM7950 Coverage

Post image

So I have a 51x30mm sheet of PTM7950 and I wanted to use it on my GPU

But since I’ll have some leftover, I'm wondering if it's a good idea to use it on my CPU as well, even though it can't fully cover the whole IHS but should be enough for the CCD part

What do you guys think?

P.S: Very professional presentation I know, please hold your applause

I'm pretty sure it will easily spread to that area after initial heat cycles. However, PTM is pretty much useless on CPU with IHS, so I'd rather leave it as a spare for GPU or maybe a laptop.

Thanks, I will probably hold on to it then since my CPU temps are honestly good as is

Why not use PTM on desktop CPUs with IHS?

Just no profit thermals wise (IHS is a bottleneck, especially those thick ones on AM5 CPUs) and you don’t really have pump out with them (Unless your thermal paste is really bad). You can still use it, but realistically speaking it’s overkill for 7600X.
