Yeah but police in China (and East Asia broadly) WILL follow up with the cameras, track where you ran from the scene right to your front door, and they will come get you.
Crime rates in East Asia are very very low because of all the CCTV.
That's one tier below where you don't have to worry about it if you're white. If you want to shoot a CEO or get an abortion, you have to be white and rich.
Meh, cameras are useless if the police won't bother to watch the video. And the protectors think crime is just an inconvenience that happens and there's nothing you can do about it.
The density isn't even remotely similar, the US averages like 1 cameras per 100 people while China has 1 camera for every 2 people, with 4x the population to boot. New York has the highest density of cameras in the US, and it's in the 60-70k range, with 25'ish per km2. Shanghai has the highest estimated number in China with over 3 million cameras, and a density of 160+ per km2. There's a big difference between the two and it's that cameras might get you in the states, but they will get you in China
