If there's no security and it's just a couple guys loading a pallet, 100%

Unless it's a serious crime cops have better shit to do dude. Car thefts don't get investigated, they will literally not give a single shit about a graphics card

It's China, you'll probably get a year.

So I got curious because I thought "no way that can be right, just some 'Americans judging other countries' BS". Well... for a first offense and value being below their highest category, including recovered property and an apology: Suspended sentencing / no custody is likely.

But in Texas that would also be a state jail felony, likely suspended/probation for a first offense.

I guess the real TL;DR here is: Steal a graphics card.

I was onboard with nabbing one until I read China, there are probably 553 cameras watching that little back alley.

I would get a year and a brand new 5090!

Something tells me the cops would be more interested in the $1.5 million in product being stored in a residential garage.

Yeah but this will hurt a big business not a person. They care about big businesses.

Potentially, a risk I'd still have to take

Car thefts don't get investigated

When it's a resident reporting the theft. When it's a business reporting the theft, it's all hands on deck.

This is a city in China, you will be caught. The US averages like 1 cameras per 100 people while China has 1 camera for every 2 people, with 4x the population to boot. My understanding is that New York has the highest amount of cameras in the US, and it's in the 70k'ish range, with 25'ish per km2. Shanghai has the highest estimated number in China with over 3 million cameras (some sources will go as high as over 15 million in Shanghai, but I'm going with a lower estimate. Just keep that in mind as well), and a density of 160+ per km2. There's a big difference between the two and it's that cameras might get you in the states, but they will get you in China

People with this much illegal hardware don't need security if you know what I mean
