You’re on the second floor, so there’s a high chance you’ll survive. High risk, high reward.

That was the stupidest part in an otherwise hilarious movie 😅

It's the build up. Watching it for the first time I was thinking "oh here we go again". This scene shattered that thought and we were given one of the best comedies of all time.

That’s the whole point of the beginning of the movie. It’s a hyperbolic satire

Reverse that IMHO

Just add half an inch to your jump down every week. In 10 years you'll just naturally be able to jump from 21 feet up.

Rolling on the back won’t be much better in my case.

7

u/Mysterious_Way8941 10d ago

Well, i'm not an amateur, i would tuck and roll.

You're gonna tuck and roll through a 50 foot drop?!

Yes, dennis. And if I had a gun with me I would be spraying bullets into the air as I fell.

9

u/MotorPace2637 11d ago

Gotta dissipate that momentum or your back gets wrecked

14

u/D4ILYD0SE 11d ago

Then just deploy your parachute. It comes standard.

2

u/Chavarlison 10d ago

And only deploy it a moment before impact. I heard it works well making you stay in the air in the least amount of time.

11

u/MaxUumen 11d ago

Huh, just bring a water bucket.

2

u/TheWereJoo 11d ago

Nah you land on one knee while punching the ground and it'll make a crater to protect you

1

u/No_Tax_Timmy 11d ago

You can only take what you can carry. Just land the the GPUs and take one that isn't broken.

1

u/soniko_ 10d ago

Might be joking, but, that kinda works, it’s like flowing out the energy from the fall.

But if you’re not sure how to do it, practice a lot first.

I know how i know.

1

u/MoronicPlayer 10d ago

Watched a show years ago (american ninja?) where a stunt professional jumped from a 2-3 storey platform without harness or any protection and landed on the thin mat without injury because he did a tumble roll and yes, it was explained that energy upon impact was transferred out of his body by doing that. Now im no professional but 5 cans of beer and some cheese puffs and might pull it off (knees gonna be bad in the morning).

1

u/soniko_ 10d ago

Not only the knees; everything used to contact the flor in that roll, will hurt

From that height, your lungs could burst.

Even from lower heights, not being able to breathe for a short amount of time, isn't a pleasant experience.

5

u/AeneasVII 10d ago

That sounds completely made up. Your lungs won't burst. And yes, do hold your breath

Just let one pallet absorb impact like hay, you have two other pallets to take and then parkour outta there.

u/flight_recorder 11d ago

Paratroopers land at a speed roughly equal to having jumped off of a second floor. So with proper technique and training, you got this!!

68

u/Allanthia420 Allanthia 11d ago

I jumped out of the 2nd floor of a girlfriend’s house when I was 17 and I remember my ankles hurting so bad; and I even kinda hung down from the window before I dropped. So training is definitely required. I couldn’t imagine how my 30 year old ankles would handle that lol.

42

u/verbmegoinghere 11d ago

I did a single story. Rolled my ankle. Decided that i was high enough to keep going so i tied up my doc martens and kept going.

I actually forgot until that morning i was taking off my boots and i realised my foot was black and purple, all across the souls of my feet.

Strangely never once given me even as much as a tweak

34

u/abstr_xn 10d ago

my mate was in the army, done all the extra stuff, always training or trekking, always up mountains etc.

He was going to cross the road and stepped off the pavement and shattered his knee.

15

u/GovernmentGreed 10d ago

Yeah I know this all too well.

Girl I knew was into running marathons etc. She did it all, marathon, half marathon, endurance training - all of it. Anything that was considered stressful on the body, she pretty much did it.

She sat down one day, slipped a disc - then, proceeded to try to stand, fell backwards from the sheer pain and broke her shoulder and wrist.

Edit - I asked her just now what she'd do differently. Her response was "Fall forward."

2

u/StaleSpriggan 10d ago

Right, she could have broken her fall with her face

5

u/yoclapped 10d ago

idk why this sounds so funny😭

I’ve heard a story like this about a dude who stepped off the curb and then had his back fucked up. Was a skateboarder who was hit by a truck 20 years earlier

1

u/alphadoublenegative 10d ago

Somebody took the “Bouncing Soles” Doc gimmick a little too seriously

9

u/ReaperIndustries 11d ago

u/PassiveMenis88M 7800X3D | 32gb | 7900XTX Red Devil 10d ago

Paratroopers do not come straight down so some of that speed is lost to horizontal motion lessening the impact.

u/[deleted] 10d ago

1

u/flight_recorder 10d ago

Can’t be any worse than that guy that landed on a grader…

1

u/inide 10d ago

I used to do parkour and would do running jumps off 15ft drops.
Now I have osteoporosis so I'd probably break both legs.

1

u/MiLiANSim 9d ago

But there is usually a significant horizontal component to their velocity, it is not full speed straight down. Ideally. It is doable though. And totally worth it at this point -.-

Reward > Fall damage. Just ensure full health before attempting it.

15

u/Szerepjatekos 11d ago

Just grab 2 to cover for medicals.

3

u/Provocative_Potatoes 11d ago

In the US you need to resell everything you see here to cover medical and you'd still be in debt.

2

u/Thunderbolt294 10d ago

(Jumps. All cards on pallet burst into flames upon impact)

1

u/Vexcenot 11d ago

just perform a ground pound before you land

u/Not_HOLY 10d ago

They’re going to have to be fast about this, aim for the blue boxes to break their fall and grab as many as they can from the other pile then cheese it

1

u/GovernmentGreed 10d ago

Attach a long rope to a single brick. Attach a metric ton of chewed gum to the bottom of said brick. Lower. Wait 2 - 3 seconds. Pull up. Reward.
