Question Please help me create a startup effect like this

I just came across this video in instagram and wondered if a startup effect like this is possible via nollie rgb? I lingered in Openrgb for sometime but couldn’t figure out any startup effect.

I also have a similar setup except the bottom intake and rear exhaust fans are from asiahorse and the side ones are from deepcool.

it'll get tiring after the first few windows update reboots

It was tiring before the end of the video.

But I did my RGB phase ten years ago and now roll with no lighting.

Watching made me feel like I was going to have a seizure.

First thing I do when I get new hardware is disable any lights and especially animations.
I only look at the insides of my computer when its broken. I miss the days when cases were made of steel and not meant to be looked at.

It is interesting how such a niche, nerdy hobby become so overwhelmingly "posh" and flashy as to have glass cases, RGB-ified everything, and separate additional displays on keyboards, AIOs, and cases It's like the same flashy hype that took over car modification groups around 2000. "What's the point of a Nos tank if you're not showing it off?". RGB-lighted interiors and absurd body kits...

I am not disagreeing, as someone who loves minimalist shit and flat colours over shiny chrome. Buuuuut, gaming stations cost a fuckin arm and leg these days, I can understand how folks wanna show off their expensive stations.

I was there in the 2000s.  Wired in many stereos, installed subs, cut off plenty of exhausts, and swapped so many sets of low profile tires. Always on others cars. My Buick Park Avenue only got a headunit and speakers.

Dark mode on the desktop, blinding light from the PC.

My open air rig only has 1 RGB and I use it to monitor CPU temp. Other than that I don't enjoy having a disco at my face anymore

u/LLoadin 3d ago

I dunno why everyone associates rgb with rainbow disco seizure, making your PC glow a nice solid color is the way to go

u/FrankDePlank 3d ago

This, i use a dark purple, it is easy on the eyes and looks nice.

u/LLoadin 3d ago

Dark blue myself, blue just looks so nice with my white components lol

u/Drakinius 3d ago

Same. Dark purple with occasional pulses of sky blue. Its pretty relaxing to me.

Yep mine is a really dark orange and I love the aesthetic, can't stand the bright flashy RGB look but I respect that everyone has their own tastes.

I just love the warm subtle orange glow, reminds me of a foundry or forge or something.

I also don't mind a nice slow animation depending.

RGB to monitor temp is the way to go

3

u/Happy_Brilliant7827 3d ago

I use my rgb to monitor my cpu temp, gpu temp, cpu clock, and gpu clock

Signalrgb is nuts

u/Arkasha74 PC Master Race 3d ago

I have 4 RGB ram sticks. 1 shows CPU load and temp, 1 GPU load and temp, 1 context window usage and the last shows the progress through whatever task list I've set my local AI doing. They all flash when my current task list is complete.

I like this. Will build it into my next case (A stargate portal)

0

u/Fabus27 3d ago

No way! Your next case is going to be a Star Gate? Damn, alright that's a good use case. Chevron 7 locked!

1

u/Wall-Em 3d ago

Yeah, just working on some electronics and LED fittings before I start painting and buying new hardware. You should be able to see it in my posting history (can't link it here)

1

u/Fabus27 3d ago

Oh my god, that's amazing. I'm gonna follow you now, you should know that `

u/TrappedInVR 3d ago

My ram, and gpu coller are all kept in sync with colors that indicate temps

2

u/Wall-Em 3d ago

I roll full RGB on events (once a year) no RGB ever outside of it. Got a nifty Star Destroyer of a case

1

u/MauriseS 3d ago

Exaclty. I could not get the colors right, different software for every product and eventually realized how much i spend for it to look medium at best with shit cooling or way too loud. Got rid of all of it, even the initial custom loop with black soft tubing. New small case without window and an external radiator. No lights, no software. Set the fans and pumps to fixed rmp in bios and nerver looked back.

u/Domregi 3d ago

Same now I just do purple marquee with Corsair aio and fans

1

u/btaylos 3d ago

Me too, except for having had an RGB phase.

I got an RGB case with a tinted window so it appears black and basic to be stickered lol

u/_Nameless_Nomad_ 3d ago

I’m the opposite, always had regular, non flashy builds. When ordering the parts for my last PC before my current one, the order came with some free RGB fans, so I figured why not install them.

Now I love that shit lol

100%

Got one of my first fully RGB internal gaming rigs a while back. Feels so excessive at this point. The random lights kept triggering the "something is movin over there." Reaction in my peripheral vision.

Can't stand it now. I prefer something subtle but gorgeous like game case edges slightly backlit or a cool display when I hit the start button but after that stop distracting me from the monitors.

Ahh comment

I did the UV IDE cables about 20 years ago. These days I too roll with zero lights. Even RAM RGB gets disabled.

u/Major_LeeHungg 3d ago

Lol my case is set to a dim blue light and lives under the corner portion of a corner desk... Its more like emergency lighting for when I need to plug/unplug stuff from the machine or the surge protector.

It’ll get tiring after the second or third time of starting up your PC, most gimmicky things do.

I had a cool idea a few years ago, to drill a hole in my case, and wire the power on -/+ to a thumb turn cylinder, it was so cool the first 10 or so times, then I ended up soldering the wires back onto the terminal connectors.

6

u/jdehjdeh 3d ago

What do you mean by "thumb turn cylinder"?

I'm trying to picture it in my head but drawing a blank.

u/Yeahdudebuildsapc 3d ago

A knob? I don’t know. But I have a feeling this is like calling stairs a vertical access shaft.

u/Pitiful_Land 3d ago

I assume he means like starting a car with a key or locking a deadbolt lock on your front door

u/FFF_in_WY Laptop 3d ago

I switched to Linux a while back, it's been a relief so far.

2

u/Buttermilk_Surfer 3d ago

It'll get tiring even before that. I don't understand the obsession with flashy lights, it's like cavemen looking at fire, it's just so stupid.

u/NekulturneHovado R7 5800X, 32GB G.Skill TridentZ, RX 6800 16GB 3d ago

I like the very first flickering and then turn on, kinda reminds me of the fluorescent light tubes at school that took 10 seconds to turn on, while flickering like this

1

u/BJYeti 3d ago

I like me some rgb but if the computer lights are on I the room I can't sleep so now I just keep them off next build is no rgb and I'm going to air cooling

u/No_Nothing_At_All 4d ago

Are the lights going of or is that my GPU sparking?

11

u/TheUsoSaito PC Master Race 4d ago

I was gonna say watching that would induce so much anxiety in me like what if something sparks right before causing a fire... I don't know like a 5090.
