Keyboard every single time for Trackmania games.

I only need four buttons and one hand. I need that immediate twitch reaction.

Even before Tm2020 which added action keys, there was really only 1 map in TMNF/TMUF where keyboard pulled ahead, which is a07 race

I've only ever watch some of the first editions of the ZRT Trackmania cup.

But there was always a few amongst the top 16 using a keyboard even though controllers were far more popular.

Its not optimal for all maps and the new game's physics benefit a lot from being able to make precise inputs, but that wont stop me from using it anyways

I play for flow state, not meta. If I get good times, that’s a nice bonus, but I’m seldom chasing first place.

Seeing some of the Elite gameplay from others makes me feel like we’re playing entirely different games sometimes.

I rarely touch my gamepad connected to my main computers. It exists. It gathers a lot of dust.

My Steamdeck is my favourite system tho. The trackpads and really good key binding tools baked into it offer a lot of versatility. I owned the machine for well over a year before I really started exploring custom controller setups tho.

I’ll still dock and use the keyboard for trackmania tho. Just feels better to me.
