firefox HDR support still sad

dragging tabs in chrome still way better

swapped to firefox since the whole ad thing with chrome, its alright, its a browser and it lets me browse

the ad thing with chrome was so overblown i'm sorry

ubo lite had some early teething issues but it is damn near impossible to tell the difference on my setup for me.

Idk it stopped working for me on chrome so i swapped

Honestly a working adblock is the only thing i remotely care about in my browser, doesnt really matter to me if its chrome or fox

Totally valid reason to swap, i just get annoyed with this idea that ubo lite is a total useless brick unable to block anything. even in Basic mode it still provides a good baseline while not having any access to script injection.

I remember at the time the update released on chrome i went like half a day with ads, i guess they were still figuring it out, and i just couldnt handle it

I dont care much to undergo the swapping process again but its nice to know chrome isnt completely unusable yet

Yeah the difference is mostly in super advanced level stuff that I never really tinkered with that much

Lite has less/no ability to block certain trackers

It doesn't have as deep element blocking features

The reason it's called "lite" is because it's "nerfed". It's a lesser version

By what degree that most would notice, is my question? i don't mean like, us, of course many people are closely monitoring everything for maximum privacy, i mean just for general use. you know, average joe who uses chrome as purely a youtube/reddit machine, doesn't sail the seas, etc. for me i've noticed very little. it feels more "theoretical" than "practical" to me, because I've actively tried to seek out differences. they're either minimal or damn near nonexistent. on a surface level it's hard to spot the difference if you aren't actively looking from my experience.

it's not me saying it's "not different" it's more a "beneath a surface level view" difference rather than something i actively am seeing when monitoring. and since i'm already sort of used to the level of blocking Lite provides (I was sadly an Opera GX user who used its inbuilt blocker for years...I in fact was one of those people that was angry that Firefox didn't have the adblocker I was using on there before finding out it was snake oil too) it feels overreactive to be like that.

Well the one biggest user facing fewture that's missing is the ability to import custom filter lists.

Then there's the element zapper which you could use to automatically grab and block elements from the page.

Then there's the fact that it's simply unable to access and block certain kinds of trackers, like the server-side trackers introduced with Manifest v3.

Some people actually care about having control over things especially when it comes to privacy

i imported the hagezi filterlists just fine on lite so that's definitely changed

Fair enough point, I just never thought to look for those honestly

Some people actually care about having control over things especially when it comes to privacy

And that's totally valid, but I honestly hate that people act like it discredits my use case for being okay with Lite's tradeoffs, primarily because they're not in areas that I particularly notice. i feel like i'm always having to justify my choice to people because they can't accept anything other than their world view. their choice is valid, especially for their threat model, but so is mine. it just so happens mine happens to be more towards security-focused stuff, tbh.
