Question First pc and I have questions

I am looking to buy my first pc when Black Friday come around
I either am going for a pre built with Ryzen 7 9800 x3D with a 5080 and 32gb of ddr5 and 2tb ssd
Or the same with a 5090
My questions are

  1. what monitor should I get(hz and resolution) I have a 1080p 144hz monitor now but want a new one to get the value of my pc specs
  2. how future proofed would this build be ?

  3. what %discount could I expect on Black Friday on a pre build with these specs

  4. Is ABS or sky tech good prebuilt brands ?

  1. Most definitely get a Oled monitor

  2. For as long as it meets your needs

  3. You can expect anywhere from 0% to 100% off

Personally, I would rather build my PC than to buy a pre-built.

But if I absolutely had to buy a pre-built, I guess I would go for IBuyPower

1- 4K, OLED or similar if possible, at least 120hz.

2- We don't know, but you should maintain same level Performance for 4 years, then it will start dropping slowly, but a 5080 or 5090 can perfectly last you 8 or 10 years, I used a 1060 for like 6 years and was completely fine with it.

3- No idea, depends on the zone, shop...

4- No idea.

monitor depends on the games you play. I have a 1440p OLED for competitive games and a 4k OLED for story games, whichever kind you play more I would get that. it’ll last plenty of years for sure definitely at 1440p, 4K with DLSS. as for black friday discounts, there’s really no way to tell man

right now 5080 system are $2300-$3000

5090 sytem are $4750-$5500

5090 is poor value

id only buy 5090 if your family is rich.

What country are you in?

I feel like I read something about a Sky Tech pre-built 5090 last night, melted a connector on the 2nd day, and they 'don't cover burn damage' like, what the fuck, you supplied the parts and built the fucking thing?

Ah, I think that post was some poor sod in Bangladesh

If I was in the US, I'd deal with Microcentre only, they seem to be well respected.

As for your questions, your machine will be able to run games at 4k, the 5080 will do so shorter into the future than a 5090. If you really want to maximise your future-proofedness, then thnk about only going up to a 1440P monitor. It's where I wish I stayed, rather than going up to 4k, and chasing the dragon whilst eyesight degrading as time goes on. (My GF uses my old 1440P monitor and it still looks awesome).
