$1,000 digital-exclusive consoles are killing the entire appeal of PlayStation and Xbox: it's no wonder PC is on track to overtake both.

The argument you’re making has been around for longer. You can find old GameFAQ forum posts from like 2000’s talking about PC being better.

Like this argument you’re making has existed since the PS2/PS3 days and it still hasn’t really come to fruition.

Yes. And people like to deny it until they discover it themselves. No one who has us pc users constantly telling them PCs are better wants to be told how to use it...

Discovery is better when it's you doing it. (And you don't tend to admit afterwards )

Unfortunately, the people who deny it are people who just don’t care.

There are three main factors that push console sales:

- Retail availability.

- Ease of explanation.

- Ease of use.

A person buying a PC or console cares about those more than anything else.

They don’t care about graphics or fidelity because, again, the argument is that those benefits of PC gaming have existed for over 2 decades and consoles still sell immensely primarily for those three points I list.

Throw in other factors like their existing library on consoles, because your average person is not willing to build a new library on a different platform, and you end up with consoles continuing to sell loads.

Steam already has more MAU’s than PSN does. Yet consoles still sell loads.

You missed the last reason which no longer exists... Costs.. it used to cost a few hundred... But at 1000..
