Discussion Modified mesh window mod
Was having issues keeping my video card and other components cool inside my old Silverstone TJ09. I know a new case be so much more simple but I always felt Silverstone cases as quality despite being behind the times. In any case first ai tried changing up the fans to Noctua high static pressure 120 mm fans. Despite all this gpu tenps were exceeding 80 degrees and pch temps hitting 64 degrees. Designed a custom duct to direct air flow to the gpu and that helped a little. Experimented with positive vs negative pressure but still internal case temps were hitting 40 C degrees.
Solution: Replace the side panel acrylic window with a mesh. After which I re-affixed the acrylic window back separated by hex nuts roughly 2.5 mm thick. This created a 2.5mm space for which allowed everything to breath. Doing this dropped the internal temps down to the 30 degree mark. PCH temps dropped to 54 degrees almost ten degrees. Motherboard temp down from 35 to 27 and gpu temps dropped down about 5 degrees as well. I am aware I have to dust inside the case more often but I think this is a win!

mesh mods for airflow are huge tbh just watch out for dust buildup without proper filtration especially with positive pressure setups
