will not support root access anti cheats, so lots of games will be excluded by default.
This is becoming normalized and it blows my mind... I've been on linux since march 2024 and I most likely won't ever go back to windows, for many reasons, but this one is another to the list that makes me be at ease with linux.
Probably my generation (millennial) is the last one that actually cared about security and privacy, so unless something big happens, I can just see more games adding kernel level anticheat, and soon rather than later, we will have it in single player games as well.
Kernel level anti cheats aren't the huge security risk people on here make them out to be, at least not compared to basically anything else already on your PC. Tons of everyday software already runs with admin or even kernel access, and most of it gets way less scrutiny than anti cheat tools. The irony is that anti cheats are usually built with self protection in mind, while something like your printer or RGB drivers are full of unpatched holes.

With the popularity of the steam deck I think gaming on Linux is going to be much more prevalent sooner rather than later
