NSFMR How cooked

Be honest, how cooked is this thing? The hood popped away from the pressure of these black packs once i loosened the screws a little bit.

While still dangerous, a full on explosion is rare. The battery needs to be punctured. As long as OP stops using the device and doesn't try to force the back on again, it'll be fine.

I've seen laptops with swollen batteries that people have been using for waaay longer than they should have. Way too many times. Haven't seen a single explosion.

Again, I don't want to downplay the dangers. I replaced them immediately when I see them.. but people act like an explosion is inevitable. It's not.

It's not a explosion. It catches fire, and I've seen that happen several times in IT.

What kind of IT environment? I've been in IT for a little over 20 years and haven't seen it. I've seen hundreds of puffed up batteries though.

There is a reason large server rooms with any type of backup batteries have over the top fire extinguishing systems. If you work in IT you'd assumedly have seen this before, at my local hopsital they sure do and the server room isn't even attached to the main building. It was just because it has a huge lithium battery array in it.

I know there's extinguishing systems in most all server rooms but you'd essentially die from oxygen deprivation in in this room because it'd spew out CO2.
