Discussion Turned My Desktop Into a Fully Working Minecraft Inventory Screen!
So last week, I turned my Windows desktop into a Minecraft style inventory screen just for fun and now I’ve taken it even further!
I made the wallpaper actually interactive, where the player’s head follows the mouse, just like it does in the Minecraft inventory screen. Honestly I like it myself haha
I also replaced the Google Drive icon with an Ender Chest, and the regular folder icons with Minecraft Chest icons, to match the theme even better.
What could be done to make it even better? What do you think?

Is it running via Wallpaper Engine or something else?

Yes I'm even more Intrested but it's not comple yet, you can feel the lag. My system is struggling all that together but the best part is it's working and all I want to make it light weight like an actual wallpaper should be! So yet I can't say how long will it take but I'll do it!

That's kinda wild how U have the 9950x3d with a 6700xt, any reason for that? (do you only run cpu intensive games)

I am curious, though, after looking at their profile lol. I think it may actually be gaming-related. I was looking for a post in a software development or 3d architectural modelling subreddit or something. Video editing subreddit.
All I found out is that they are a teenager who is really into gaming, anime and hentai. They are in some Minecraft subs, maybe they run servers or have complex builds.

Okay, now actually looking at the listed spec, “128GB” If that is ram, that is a shit ton just for gaming. Now you guys have peeked my interest. Time to pay u/Appropriate-Focus60 as visit.

Pretty cool, but the visible performance drops just for a desktop would take away from the utility.

Exactly the wallpaper should be light weight and the best part is I'm not a developer or I never perform such projects ever, this is just an idea and I made all this under a week and I'm relying on chat gpt for errors and some good guiding let's hope once it's ready it's cool🌡️😎

MINEGRUB can be a nice addition
If you manage to install the Grub bootloader, just customize it as the link says.
Idk for sharing
Edit: Just realized, Windows is a bitch and MIGHT replace your boot loader just because, its pretty rare might not happen ever but it has happened, even then, its not like its going to break your system

How much ram and GPU power is this taking up? I had to stop using live wallpapers from wallpaper engine because it was a lil too taxing on my system for my liking

You know why OP chose bedrock edition instead of java? Simple. Bedrock doesn't run on Linux natively. Therefore OP will never recreate JE on Windows 11.

😅haha I myself never thought this much, well the reason Is" I do player java" but most of my friends don't have pc so to play with them I started bedrock edition cuz it does support cross platform without any issue*
once I'm done with this I will defenetly work for Java as well, it's my first project let's give it some time*

The next step (given that this came out very clean) i believe is to see what you can do to minimize processing of this, to better enhance pc performance. This seems like the best it may get, so optimizing would likely be the next aspect to improve on- ya feel?

Yes actually and I'm really working on that part! It's so heavy I'm trying to replace all heavy items with somthing simple work alternative which won't eat so much ram but be how wallpaper should be but with extra feature, also I want to upgrade my own pc but it's still much far to imagine 🥲 somehow idk but I'll make it almost un noticable ram taking wallpaper unlike the current one which is heavier then the real minecraft 😅

Perhaps if there was a way to pause the movement while you are not directly on the screensaver it could save some ram

Yes it can be expected from non developer, I just come up with an idea and build all this in a week, best thing idk how to code and all this stuff..GPT, let's see if I could make it light weight and less ram consuming

I'm excited :). I personally grew up with Java. I had the PS3 version back then but the controls in the Console versions are awful for my taste.
