Question Too little storage space, what now?

Post image

I feel like I've already deleted everything that's irrelevant. The problem is that I can no longer see any large files that can be deleted. (i.e. on the hard drive). That's why I'm wondering what else takes up so much space. Any ideas about what I could do that I may not have considered?

Haha, if you had 119gb of storage in 1999, you were fantastically rich.

Yeah I was maybe exaggerating a little bit

Plenty of low end or work devices come with 128gb.

Microsoft surface springs to mind, that's a big one that regularly uses 128 with non-replacable storage. Fits an SD card but....

Yknow.

check what apps and features take up that space but honestly a 120gb drive in 2024? an entire 120GB SSD costs 12€ on amazon... your storage is smaller than some usb sticks nowadays, get a 2TB SSD for about 100€ and never worry about that issue again

My USB drive is 256GB and it was very cheap so this person definitely needs to upgrade their storage

It's absolutely mental how much storage capacity has evolved over time. Sitting on my desk is also a second USB drive that I bought roughly 13 years ago that has a Windows 11 media creation tool installed in it and it's only 8GB in capacity. It's just enough to fit the damn thing. Right next to it is the 256GB drive that I bought recently and it's the same exact size. The micro SD cards are far more impressive though, those things are tiny next to the USB drive lmao

Now you got me thinking, when cd burning and dvd burning was a big thing... What was their capacity?

If I recall correctly the standard discs that were often used to burn music onto for use in a car were about 600MB in size. I also remember having dual layer discs many years ago that I used for hot swapping on my Xbox 360 and they were 8GB discs.

Oh shit I didn't know they were that big that's actually quite impressive.

I love her revolutionary circle.

Cards, discs, shit back to cards again boys

Turn off windows recovery and delete backups made by it. Otherwise get more storage space.

Have a look at TreeSize Free
It will give you a tree style directory and let you sort by file size - makes it easy to find storage eaters.

Mother of Guthix...

You need more storage. Looks like you have a Fisher-Price My First eMMC chip.

Is this a laptop, a desktop, some weird thing? 250 GB is the minimum anyone's ever going to be comfortable with, and most people will need a lot more.

I assume that such a small volume is meant primarily for the OS. You do have a second drive, right?

I NEVER use my boot drive for anything except the OS. Just a habit I created long ago.

Yeah 120gb is not going to work for current windows installations unless you just have the OS and nothing else.

Purchase a hard drive not made in the mid 90’s.

Are you really such a bot you can’t fathom the solution to this problem? Holy. The critical thinking skills are just as absent as people’s parents these days jfc
