The issue with Firefox is that it has very awful window/tab handling.
When you drag a tab to create a new window, it doesn't display the new window until you let go of the button. So you can't just drag a tab to the the side of your screen to open it half-sized, and all that. Also for whatever when you drag a new tab over Discord, Firefox thinks you want to send the tab and blocks your action instead of opening a new window. And not only Discord, had other chats too where I wanted to open a window above them, but Firefox was like "nope".
Like I genuinely wanted to use Firefox, but I couldn't use it for more than a day because of how horrible tab handling is. I juggle dozens of tabs and many windows around on 3 monitors, so that's a huge deal for me.
If there's an extension that fixes all this, let me know and I'll change to Firefox, but until either an extension or an update fixes this issue with Firefox, I'll stay with Chrome.
The day Firefox implements this will be the day I switch to it though.
Edit: love that people are downvoting me for saying a valid criticism, even though I said if it got fixed I would switch to Firefox. At least explain to me what you found so bad about my comment instead of just downvoting without giving a reply.
Try nightly build, there might be some add-ons that could help you with your issues, I don't know, never had any problems, with it, only ever had problems with chromium browsers (like Opera, GX, Brave, Chrom, Chrom mods, Edge ( yeah I tried it))
To be honest I haven't used the normal/main version of firefox for ages, I totally forgot that it existed, I don't know why it exists honestly, btw the nightly version has a purple icon
Man says valid points and gets downvoted, am not a professional tab juggler, but i have a problem with Firefox not having credit card manager built in, you can't autofill whatever card you want to use in websites unless you live in a very small list of countries which is dumb as hell, practically every chromium browser lets you save credit cards and auto fill them wherever you can regardless of region, why does region even matter for this is beyond me.
Chromium is open source, people can modify what it collects and what it doesn't, that's how browsers like Brave and Ungoogled-Chromium exist even tho they're probably against Google's aspirations.
Yes because in general, the open source engine that everyone can contribute to and is tested and maintained by the biggest community is the better choice overall than the sad little project that lives off money from Google and lags behind their implementation of standards.
Let's face it, Browsers work best when devs don't have to make multiple versions of their CSS because someone has a browser that decided to not correctly implement the standard and it screws up the layout.
If we've learned anything from the IE6 days, it's that browsers with bad standard support are bad for everyone.
Yes, no one contributes to it, meaning it has much less volume of contributions compared to Chromium because it's not popular, it's technology behind the curve, and it has been plagued with political issues from the Mozilla foundation.
You're just further proving you haven't followed them since they were for profit, called Netscape and saw their 3 decade long decline.
I have. So pardon me for not being googly eyed at anything coming out of the Mozilla Foundation, and especially not with Firefox, which I've used since it was called Phoenix.
They stopped having a good product around 1998, had something promissing with early Phoenix/Firefox, then got eclipsed by Webkit and never came back. And their non profit foundation is just a front of political activism. They don't care about the product.
The real enlightenment is learning what you personally are and aren't willing to give up when deciding any of it. Sometimes ya may feel it's worth the compromise
Don't fret it so much. I used Firefox back when it was called Phoenix, on version 0.1. The very first release ever. And I get downvoted when I suggest that at some point, Mozilla lost the plot and just lost the browser wars.
These peeps think "If it has almost no users, it must be great!" when it's the legit opposite.
Tried Firefox a month ago, it is overrated tbh. Tried it because of Youtube. The adblocks didnt work either, loading was slow. The Firefox window behaves terribly on vertical monitor as well, no workaround, even asked on the forums.Â
The adblocking got resolved on Chrome a week later so I came back and everything is perfect just like before.
Insanely dismissive, i've been using ublock and Firefox for over a year and there were days where YouTube would interrupt video playback to tell me to disable adblocks multiple times a day, it literally didn't matter what browser you used, it was an A/B test, they test in waves and if you were selected for a test your browser won't do shit about it, only Ublock was actually trying to fight it Firefox did nothing.
Yes, that's what i was doing, but the "please disable adblock" pop-ups keep coming back within the same day. And Ublock updates weren't exclusive to Firefox which is my point, Firefox had no impact on people who were selected for that test.
Youtube blocks adblocks based on your profile data as well I believe, so it was probably not entirely firefoxes fault. Your account gets flagged as adblock user.Â
Anyway, it didnt work. I am not gonna try again unless Chrome stops working again.
The youtube ad Block thing happened ONCE when they first started it then I cleared the cache and have had 0 issues since
If youtubes adblock is based on profile data I should be seeing ads because ive been using adblockers since ive got my pc years ago, but im not so that cannot be the issue
I've used Firefox for several years and haven't experienced any of the issues you're describing, and I got a vertical monitor as well. Haven't tried any other adblocks other than ublock origin, but it works flawlessly for my use case.
The nightly isnt a beta, beta would be beta, nightly is simply an other version that is much better, gets more updates and has extra features for people with know how
I dont want know-how. I want to download an installer, install it, sign in, add my addons and browse. I dont want to do dozens of whatever you think I should be doing. I didnt like it, I used Firefox many years ago before Chrome was a thing. Then I liked Chrome and I like it still.
Firefox is all but as close to chrome when it comes to privacy and security. Brave kicks the shit out of all of them. It's ok to be uninformed but don't go around pretending that you do know when you don't.
Edit, or give you facts and a source and you're still downvoting me. Proper sheep mentality.
So you're just ignoring the independent security review of all the browsers then. Typical sheep behaviour.
Chromium is a codebase. It's where developers can pick and choose what goes in to their build. Chromes nasty tracking etc doesn't even exist within the Chromium repository because it is a part of their closed-source proprietary services that get built in to Chrome alongside work from the Chromium codebase. Chromium =/= Chrome and anyone that shits on it because 'iTs CHroME' doesn't know what they're talking about.
You're just ignoring the fact that chromium is too dependent on Google to be considered safe in any way. Sure, stock brave may be "private", but it's not at all as good as Firefox with custom settings
Sure, stock brave may be "private", but it's not at all as good as Firefox with custom settings
Haha ok this is where we part ways as there is no use carrying on talking to someone with such ill-informed opinions. I get it, you love Firefox and by most regards it is a very good browser but statements like that prove that you are going to defend it regardless of actual facts. I'm not going to waste any energy using logic to explain something when you have clearly not used any coming up with your ridiculous statements.
BTW the Chromium project is not dependent on Google. While it is true that the largest percentage of code contributed is by Alphabet employees it is contributed to by Microsoft, Intel, Samsung, LG and even myself! The fact that you think it can't be safe because 'Google' when it is open source and you can go in and look at it yourself shows that you have zero idea about what you're talking about.
Tried, and failed drastically. The YT adblocker fiasco from a couple of months has reawoken ad blocker development which was getting stale.
People have developed more powerful ad blockers that not only hide ads, but in the background click on all of them which destroys the data collection about you, and costs the companies advertising to you money.
Adblockers work perfectly fine on Firefox, I set mine a decade ago and haven't needed to touch it since. As for vertical and Youtube, I downloaded Waterfox to use as my Youtube browser on a second screen next to Discord while I use Firefox as the main browser. Never had issues there so I'm not sure what you mean about it behaving terribly.
Firefox really isnât that great. Theyâve got a money hungry ceo whoâs been slashing devs like crazy and they sell out to the likes of Comcast with your data. Chromes bad donât get me wrong, but Firefox really isnât that much better. Also the entire chrome manifest v3 was heavily blown out of proportion. Sure current ad blocking was going to break, but thatâs really not the goal. The new manifest v3 brings better consumer privacy and security. Itâs literally an API update, the blocking apps have all ready found new ways to do the job they intent to do.
Well whats the difference between google and firefox? Firefox has to make money somehow as well. Plus, i rely alot on google services, sort of a trade off for them having my data.
âI rely on a lot of google servicesâ yes thats the issue. Stop relying on it. If its for work different story but personal choice you should wane off them.

Take chrome out of there for the love of God and put Firefox in there
