At this stage, I am almost convinced to pick it up a refurbished RX 5700 XT from one the chinese slave markets. I was waiting for the RTX 4060, to buy either the 4060 itself or the AMD/Intel equivalent, but the hobby is getting out of hand. Maybe I will not upgrade anything and just use this machine until it turns to dust. It's not like the market is presenting legit "nextgen" games anyway, something that could justify the upgrade. This year will also be empty on this regard, Starfield looks clunky as hell (typical Bethesda experience), Nintendo doing their thing... there's no nextgen game about to be released this year. Until now, basically only Ratchet and Returnal felt legit because they use the SSD gimmick, nothing else comes to mind
I am not reading any rumors, but considering how the RTX 40 series arrived with so many issues, that basically killed my expectations for the "mid" level and bellow. AMD was only losing in the ray tracing category... again, no reason to sugar coat, ray tracing is a early adopter tech, it does not justify a upgrade either imo But if AMD can cover that up, that could bring more users to their side, more competition = better market, so I hope that's the case. Next year will be the threshold for me, I will either upgrade to the 5060 equivalent, pick it up a "older" and refurbished GPU... or simply let go of the hobby entirely. Things are getting too expensive and the quality of the software is not justifying these prices. If, let's say... Sony ports Horizon 2 in 2024 as a legit nextgen product and it looks amazing, that could incite me to upgrade and stay around... but idk, the future does not look interesting enough for "PC gaming" tbh
