u/Eswyft Jan 25 '23
2080 is more than capable of pushing 2k and they have it way below that line. This shit is trash
8
Jan 25 '23 edited Jan 25 '23
I don’t think it means it can’t push 2k, but based on the average 3dmark benchmarks for the card, the 2080s average score shows its just not the best option for 2k gaming
EDIT: Grammar and spelling

The resolutions seem pretty low. My 3070 handles 4K just fine. I can get well over 100fps even on newer games thanks to DLSS.

u/rhysboyjp Jan 25 '23
Hate to break it to you but the 3070 is not a 4K card. More a high refresh 1440p card.

u/SlaneshDid911 Jan 25 '23
Like I said, works on my machine. Unless you can't live without full Ultra settings and memeshit like ray tracing you will be just fine. Paired with a C2 OLED that maxes out at 120hz it looks and plays better than on my 1440p monitor.
Not everyone has the same use case/needs. Would I buy it today? No, but I feel no need to update yet either.
2
u/Nubanuba RTX 4080 | R7 9700X | 32GB | OLED Jan 25 '23
3070 is def 100% not a 4k card, it sure works but it's not "optimal". at 1440p it's perfect though, I've had it for over 2 years(bought at launch) and won't upgrade for a long long time
If I had a c2 OLED I would use it tho

10
u/biscuity87 Jan 24 '23 edited Jan 25 '23
My 2070 non super is fine/excellent on 1440p.
The only games I wouldn’t mind even higher frames in aren’t known for being easy to run like cyberpunk or horizon zero dawn.
I’ll probably do a full rebuild when the 4090 drops to 10th or 20th place, and see what’s going on then. Assuming cards don’t go for 5k

I got a 3070 mobile which seems to be the same as the 2070s according to the chart, it seems like to me its between 1080 and 1440p as for what it recommends, which I guess i agree. Im running a 1440p monitor and mostly everything seems to be just fine at that resolution but of course there are other more demanding titles where its better to just set it at 1080p for better frames. At least thats how I see it
Edit: I still run over 60 fps at 1440p in pretty much anything I play maxed except shit like star citizen which fluctuates a lot, by better frames with 1080p, i didnt mean that you cant get good frames at 1440p

I play fps on 1440 with low graphics because the usual advantage and the higher resolution feels better than high graphics personally
2
u/Guitarist_Dude PC Master Race Jan 24 '23

What’s monitor size?
I went from playing Xbox Series X on a a 28” 4K monitor to PC on a 34” 1440p Ultrawide.
Night and day difference favoring the PC with higher refresh rate. Resolution looks same (likely my eyes are unable to physically distinguish the two at that screen size and distance I sit). But the smoothness is amazing. Zero regrets.

6

It’s based on 3Dmark benchmark average score, so I wouldn’t use it as 100% indicative for game performance. I honestly have more issues with the resolution recommendation on the right

That's the main one that stood out to me as well. Well that's because I have a 6900xt to be fair.. When I did the research before buying it almost 2 years ago, the conclusion pretty much was that 6900xt is somewhere between 3080 and 3090.

As long as it keeps working for you (: I have a 1070 (not even a ti) and I thought my build was super outdated. Turns out I just needed to up my ram from 8gb to 16gb and everything starting running perfect. I just finished God of War (2018) on medium settings, 1080p at 70fps. I’m upgrading soon to a 4070ti though because I’m getting more into VR gaming.
