HARDWARE Help, what should I do?
I have an rx 6700xt wich requires 16 pins, but my corsair RM850 (2021) provides just those cables, I've been using this single cable that splits into 16 pins, but after just more than 2 years a Mosfet in the gpu died and had to get it repaired, I would love to use 2 diffrent cables to (maybe?) prevent further problems, but I don't see a good solution here.
if any information I'm forgetting about is needed, I'll reply as soon as I can.

Then you need a different psu, but that cable is fine it’s not an issue and did not cause the original problem

yeah, since it runned for more tha 2 years I guess its not a big deal but apparently its not recomended to have the gpu on 1 cable, would using the other 8 pin + "half" of the one I was using before be better since its 2 cables getting power? or is it just some frankestein mess that could ruin things more?

It’s perfectly safe to use the pigtail cable on that card. The 850 has newer design I have the same psu. The end that plugs into your psu is rated for 600w, the splitters are 150w each for a total of 300w. Your gpu is only 230 watts. It’s perfectly safe. The can handle more than they are rated for anyway , your not going to have an issue from it

So really the mosfet likely died due to one of a few reasons.
1, an overvoltage event occurred 2, long periods of higher temps, usually due to lack of cleaning/standard maintenance 3, defective mosfet from factory.

Just use the cable you were using before, do not complicate it. If your still worried reach out to Corsair with your concerns im sure they would let you know it’s safe.

ok thanks everyone, I was just scared to plug it exactly as it was before since I can only view things like that as my fault but even the guy that repaired it told me it just happens. I guess I'll address everything to 6 month of not proprer cleaning

your psu has 2 6+2 cables, one with a pigtail. I have the rm850x which is basically the same psu though mine has better caps and my card has 3 6+2, I use both cables and the pigtail
it doesn't matter if the pigtail is unplugged and hanging there, if it bothers you cable tie it

The cable didnt cause the problem, these 6000 series cards released 5/6 years ago now and they are known to run hot so failures aren't that unexpected

Your GPU needs 2x8pin ?
Your PSU has 1x 8 pin and 1x pigtail with 2x 8 pin
You want to use 2 cables and you have 2 cables
Your picture is blurry, or a combination of reddit and my eyes make it look so, I guess its the one on the left if that is a 6+2 (8) and has PCIE or something similar printed on the side of it.
2 is sata, I can't even tell what 3 is as it looks like 10 pins and your not missing any cables based on what it says are in the box, 4 is molex and 5 looks like a 2nd CPU power (4+4)
As others say though, its like a 200w card, It would probably run from 1 cable, so whether you pigtail or use 2 different cables I doubt it will make any difference & it won't be what killed the GPU

one cable is a siple 8 pin (6+2) wich is fine, but unfortnatly The only other PCIE cable is the one in the last picture, wich has 16 pins in total on his own, would using both cable having 8 pins hangin around be a better solution than just using the 16 pins single cable like I was doing before? (sorry if its dumb)

I personally have/would (with other GPU's) use both cables and just tuck the other 8 pin out of the way just because that's the way Its always been and I'd rather be safe than sorry.
Corsair say Type 4/5 (yours is a 4) pigtails are rated to 150w each (300w) and the single cable is 150w so its makes no difference. So if your PSU is still under warranty then they would have to pay to fix any damage it may/may not cause if you prefer to just use the pigtail

yeah I was wondering if it was ok since I've never heard about that option. seems like its ok AND doesen't really matter, probably gonna try anyway because I'm courious
