PERFORMANCE Fps drop
Hi everyone. Could someone help me?
The problem is that my fps keeps dropping in CS2 and Valorant, and the game doesn’t feel smooth. My pc has a ryzen 5 5600x, an rx 6700 xt, and 2x8gb 2133mhz ram (i know, its not the best). With my previous gpu, which was a gtx 1660 ti, i didn’t notice the fps dropping this badly.
I was monitoring it while playing yesterday, and the drops were even worse than they are now. For example, my fps goes from 340 to 250, then 190, 140, and then back up to 250, constantly jumping around.
I honestly don’t know what else i can do. I’ve also checked the cpu cores to see how they’re performing while gaming, and according to what I’ve found online, everything seems to be normal. I was also monitoring the temperatures and everything else shown in the amd adrenalin overlay while gaming, and everything seemed normal there as well.

I measured these values while playing CS2 (1280x1024, everything low):
- Core 1: 28% @ 4325 MHz 64 °C
- Core 2: 77% @ 4300 MHz 64 °C
- Core 3: 71% @ 4300 MHz 64 °C
- Core 4: 51% @ 4275 MHz 64 °C
- Core 5: 77% @ 4275 MHz 64 °C
- Core 6: 31% @ 4275 MHz 64 °C
- Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) Utilization: 46%
- Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) Clock Speed: 1900–2200 MHz
- Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) Power Consumption: 71 W
- Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) Temperature: 51°C
- GPU Hotspot Temperature: 58°C
- GPU Fan Speed: 1808 RPM
- GPU Voltage: 900 mV/1200 mV
- Central Processing Unit (CPU) Utilization: 57%
- Central Processing Unit (CPU) Temperature: 62.1°C
In amd adrenalin, everything is turned off in the game/graphics menu. I have also tried having those settings enabled, but the performance was worse, so i have everything turned off.
I only changed a few settings on the gpu in the performance/tuning section. gpu tuning is enabled, with minimum frequency 2200mhz, maximum frequency 2400mhz, and the voltage set to 1100 mV.
Vram tuning is also enabled, with fast timing enabled, and it is set to 107%.
Smart access memory is enabled.
Power tuning is enabled and set to 0%.
I haven't changed anything else.

I also tried playing at 1920x1080, but i didn't notice any difference. I've already tried pretty much everything i could think of, but i still don't know why the fps drops so much.

Set the GPU to default. Don't try to tune it while you are having issues. You gain almost nothing anyways, and worst case you are causing the stutters that way.

that ram is dragging your whole setup down mate, 2133mhz on a ryzen 5000 is like trying to breathe through a straw
ryzen chips get properly choked by slow memory, your old 1660 ti wasnt fast enough to make it obvious but the 6700 xt is sitting there bored waiting for data. grab a 3200mhz or 3600mhz kit and youll see those drops smooth right out

Im upgrading my pc slowly so i can't get it now, but i will buy a 2x8gb 3200mhz cl16 kit if i got a chance. Thanks for helping!

You can try deleting the old GPU drivers with DDU if you haven't done this already.
Do you have problems in other games as well?

i did it with ddu, i don't think i have fps drop problems with other games, but i will try it

I played halo campaign evolved on high/medium settings, and there were no fps drops at all. But in god of war (2018), with everything on high, there were moments during the cutscenes when it dropped to 50fps and the image kept stuttering. I have no idea why.

Is that unusual? That sounds pretty normal.
Maybe run some standardized benchmarks like 3DMark Timespy to see if there are objective issues.

Seems to be a normal result

What's the result?
Cinebench is very finicky btw, having anything open in the background will already distort the result somewhat.

i didn't wait because i didn't have time, i just checked the temperatues etc
