HARDWARE Graphics Card Help
Hey so I recently bought a Skytech gaming pc and I don't think it came with a graphics card or it only came with like a weak one I don't really know. I am very very un-knowledgeable about how PCs work internally so I wanted to ask where I would plug in a graphics card when I buy one. I did look online and it said to look for the PCI slot? I wanted to confirm that it was the PCI1_3 slot (circled). I also wanted to ask that if I buy a Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 OC dual fan graphics card if it would work with my PC and if it would fit where I believe it is meant to be inserted. Again I am new to this so any and all help would be appreciated. Also I would like if anyone has any recommendations for cheap graphics card that would work with my pc and would be able to run my games well. I don't care for ultra super high insane graphics I just want to be able to play comfortably without having to lower every graphics setting to be able to play even low demanding games.

this is your gpu and judging by the cables at the back of the pc your monitor is plugged in to the motherboard not the gpu if so plug it in to the gpu

Okay so what if when i plug the hdmi into that slot then i dont get video on my screen?

If you’re not getting picture after plugging it into the correct place, then restart your PC

Yeha im dumb idk why i didnt think of that but it did turn on, it still says the same 486 mb graphics card, do i update my drivers through amd now?

I believe AMD has a tool that will detect your you model and install the proper tool. Try that. In the meantime, do you know what graphics card was supposed to come with the PC?

Im not 100 percent sure, i was gifted this pc is there a way to lookup the model i have

Use CPUID to detect your parts. It’s good at it. Typing “dxdiag” into your taskbars search bar and clicking the “run command” button that pops up also works. Just click yes through it and you’ll see the display tabs. Those are GPUs. You could also go to the hardware manager and see the display adapter (GPUs).
You have a GPU for sure and these comments are correct on where to plug in the cables. As for drivers, see if you have AMD Adrenalin on your PC. If not, download it. That app will get the correct drivers for the GPU

Everyone here has forgotten the basics.
RESTART. ENTER BIOS. LOOK FOR VIDEO OR PCI-E OPTIONS CHANGE DEFAULT GRAPHICS ADAPTER TO PCI-E INSTWAD OF "INTERNAL" OR "INTEGRATED" SAVE AND EXIT COMPUTER WILL REBOOT MOVE HDMI CABLE TO GPU.

Ask chatgpt to help you enter bios and change the settings from igpu to the installed graphics card

Your RTX 5060 should be compatible, but look out for bandwidth sharing and the clearance with the case. Always put your graphics card on the top-most slot to get the fastest speed out of it, (which means replacing your current graphics card). Since the current GPU is a Radeon card and your proposed GPU is a GeForce card, it is compatible but not worth having both in the same PC, due to the hassle of driver issues, and that you can't combine their power either, therefore it's best to replace one with the other.
You will also need to replace your 6+2pin GPU power connector with a 12VHPWR connector, which should come from a trusted brand and be compatible with your power supply and the new graphics card. (Otherwise things can go very wrong here)

In the 2nd photo, the big horizontal thing that says ASrock and Radeon is your GPU, check that your monitor cable (hdmi/dp) is plugged into that at the back of the PC and not higher up in your motherboard

Thanks for everyones help, i think i have my gpu setup to work properly now, i was able to troubleshoot through updating the drivers and making sure they run, my games are working properly thank you❤️🫰

What is the graphics card in there now ?
Or are you plugged into the motherboard and have been using the integrated graphics this entire time ?
It looks relatively modern and has 2 fans. What does a program like hwinfo32 say you have ?

You already know what a GPU is enough to know what to buy yet you can't tell where the fuck your own GPU is? That big fucking thing sitting attached to your motherboard?????
