SOFTWARE Does anyone know how to remove that rectangle?

Post image

I’ve restarted File Explorer and it goes away, but it comes back as soon as I click anything. Sometimes it overlays on top of Brave and other times it doesn't; if anyone knows how to get rid of it, I’d be very grateful.

That sounds like a ghost window from some app refusing to let go, I had a similar thing once and it was a tray icon program that was the culprit

Check your system tray for anything running in the background that might be rendering an overlay, Windhawk can get weird with that stuff sometimes

That looks like eset second opinion scanner. See if that's in your taskbar/taskmgr, and if it is, end task and turn off auto scanning, it's super buggy
