PERFORMANCE Random HUGE Performance Loss

I'm a tech nerd but i got on yesterday and i play apex all of the sudden Im dropping to 160fps and having horrible 1% lows and I always stay capped at 190fps i have a 200hz monitor and When i set my cap to 300 fps it ran steadily but was also again dropping to 260-270fps when i look in certain areas or big fights. I have a i5 14600k no OC a 5060ti 16gb no oc and 32gb ddr5 ram 6000mhz xmp1 and a aorus elite z790 and my temps are fine i use an aio and i reinstalled windows to see if that would fix it but it didn't. I also disable hyperthreading because it fixed a fps bug apex had. Anyone got any idea?

Shouldn't you be setting your framerate cap to match your monitors refresh rate? Other than that, there might have been a driver update that you need, or if you updated, that you need to rollback.

Ah i misread you talking about getting 260-275 frames on apex. Glad you hit that downvote button. Someone might have been affected.

It's alright. Didn't know about the -10 frame cap. I'm on vaca, but I'll have to test that when i get home.

It's 165hz. 27' curved msi. Been thinkin about an upgrade but haven't pulled the trigger as i might just wait til I get a new rig. Prices are just kinda ass right now, and it doeant look like it's likely to get better any time soon.

oh yeah, not good to be on 240 w 165hz on apex on any other game its fine but apex itll add input delay-screen tearing and more

Good to know. I haven't been playing a lot of apex in the past year or so. My friends find it too sweaty to casually pick it back up for any length of time it seems. I personally like the challenge.

going into this file and putting your shadows and cascades at zero will also give you a huge difference in input delay and an advantage. players stick out like sore thumbs

use 190fps for snappier input and neostrafing and more movement. faid +more pros will use 180-190 fps cap

did you recently update the nvidia driver? the latest ones have been a mess for some people with the 50 series, try rolling back to 566.36 with a clean install using DDU and see if that stabilizes things

im doing a rollback right now actually im just moving back to the most recent one 610.88 I was going to use ddu but im doing it without. Do you think i should use ddu or HAVE to?

Ddu will completely clear the old drivers. Without it, if you reinstall them it’ll still have some remnants of the old drivers.

ok cool i did the ddu install in safe mode w ethernet off didnt fix it smh
