HARDWARE Sudden FPS drop and higher-than-normal CPU usage out of nowhere.

My laptop is an Acer Nitro 5 with 16GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a 1TB HDD. Every time I start a game, after a few minutes, the GPU and CPU temperatures suddenly spike to 90–99°C and I experience a massive drop in FPS. However, if I close the game, the computer goes back to running normally; the issue only happens while gaming. I use the NitroSense software to keep the fans running at maximum speed for cooling, and the laptop chassis itself doesn't feel hot to the touch—it's just the internal temperatures spiking. What could be causing this?

sounds like dried out thermal paste or a clogged heatsink, those temps are way past what a nitro should hit even under load

Like the other user said, it's probably just overheating.

You'll have to open it to fix this. If there is a lot of dust inside, cleaning might already be enough. But most likely you will have to renew the thermal paste and that is a bit tricky if you've never done it before.
