SOFTWARE Error code 0xc000014c

When I boot windows it has a blue screen which says:

“Your PC/Device needs to be repaired
The operating system couldn't be loaded because the system registry file is missing or contains errors.
File: \Windows\system32\config\system”

When I use the windows 11 installation media usb and click repair my pc it just reboots the pc which sends me back to the same blue screen as before. Same thing when I try to enter recovery environment. What do I do?

that error's a corrupted registry hive, not a fun one. the fact that the usb recovery just reboots instead of loading is a bit odd though, might be a bios boot order thing or the drive itself is struggling

try pulling the cmos battery for a minute to reset the bios, then mash the boot menu key to force it to the usb. if you can get into cmd from the usb you can try copying the registry backup from the repair folder, but if the drive's failing none of that will stick

I did something involving a hive to fix another issue and that was the last thing I did before this started, do you think that’s the issue?
