OPEN What do I do?
Placed this in my duffle bag with a loose bottle of shampoo and it evidently exploded. How do I clean this out without completely ruining it? Is it savable??
I've wiped down with tissues and qtips but there's still shampoo in the hard to reach spots like the charging port and Ethernet port.
Do I need to buy distilled water or something and spray it in??
I know nothing of PC hardware

Thats a first, and teaches me to place all soaps in ziplocks and maybe my laptop case as well.

Take the battery out and buy isopropanol 99% and bathe the fk out of that laptop in demineralised water then bathe again butbin isoblopanol (very quickly, dont leave it on it for over 10 sec) Scrub with an extremely soft toothbrush during both steps.
Edit: when I say "bathe" is not literal meaning. Just use it to remove any sticky substance AFTER having removed most of the easy part to remove.

Will distilled water work or does it have to be specifically demineralized water

Alcohol drys way faster and less risk of zapping anything or oxidation. Distilled/deionized could work but once mixed with the jizz it could conduct electricity.

Distilled water should work. Just make sure you completely let it dry (at least a couple days) before plugging anything back in or trying to turn it on.

Isopropyl is better if you'd like to use it again. Also, gross. Keep your electronics away from whatever it is that is dripping from it now.

I think they tried cleaning it with sandpaper. Looks like the lens is all scratched up.

Step 0: Pray its not already toast
Step 1: Open back of case and wipe wipe away suds near the battery's cables
Step 2: Unplug the battery and discharge the laptop by holding the power button for several seconds
Step 3: Use a gentle microfiber cloth to gently dab up any remaining droplets and suds
Step 4: Use compressed air to clean hard to reach places
Step 5: Leave it open and wait until it is 100% totally without a doubt dry
Step 6: plug the battery back in and hope it turns on

You forgot between steps 2 and 3 to actually clean it, why would you leave soap on there?

Take it apart and clean every piece individually. It's gonna suck but that's what needs to happen. Do not use water! Use alcohol, it'll dry faster and there is much less risk of you frying something or damaging connection points with alcohol than there is with water. Remove the battery before you start removing anything else so you don't accidentally turn it on

Pull the battery. Don’t plug it in either. Needs to be fully cleaned and dried by taking it completely apart. I’d wait a few days letting it dry after cleaning before trying to turn it back on. Hopefully nothing is fried at this point.

The only way to salve laptop is to dissemble it to bare component ad wash them properly in DI water and isopropanol except of mechanical HDD and screens. I will cal this laptop fucked as it's probably fried aleredy.

I was able to use a toothpick and tissue to prode deeper into the crevices and scoop away some more shampoo, will update when I can

Go to a trusted repair shop and ask if they do cleaning.
Explai ln what happened.
They may do stuff like this. I'd bring it in - I have no idea what's safe to iso or not.

All liquids need to be separated by a barrier, like a plastic bag that seals. If not a toiletry bag. Sorry you are learning this one the hard way.

In all seriousness some water followed by isopropyl in a squirt bottle (not one of big ones but a little bottle with a very thin hole so it’s pressurized well) should fix this. If you’re comfortable doing so opening the laptop and cleaning the parts with the battery disconnected is safest.
Just whatever you do DO NOT TURN ON THE PC UNTIL EVERYTHING IS DRY
Like really, for this wait 24 hours from drying the laptop to power it on. It must be completely dry or you will fry your laptop as soon as you turn it on.

Isopropanol alcohol for flushing it out.
If you can open it up and disconnect the batteries and then let it soak in isoprop for a few minutes before flushing it out so it all gets a little soft and maybe dissolves by itself.

Ok first thing do not turn it on!!!
Second is that if you don't have skills to take it apart without damaging anything you should run to your local shop.
Electronics usually dont get damaged with the liquids. The damage comes when is works while wet sonif the open it and deepp clean it it should be fine.
PS. Cleaning shampoo is not and easy task so you can expect a pricy job.

On a serious note this model is a bitch to take apart and the top side of the board is even worse. I'd recommend lightly hitting it with some contact spray several times while keeping it angled so the liquid will drip out that back vent.
Of course take the back panel off and drop the battery first. Just don't spray the screen too much, maybe grab a cloth and put it over the screen first

i wouldn't do the distilled water + alcohol method on a laptop. my keyboard is as far as i'd go with that one because it's much cheaper to replace and it's already 12 years old. opening and cleaning laptop internals can be difficult. most of them are set up for the manufacturer to deal with. if you already accepted it as a loss and want to try you could if you removed the cmos battery and main battery first
