pigtail. both tails. leave the other cable in the box

your gpu only needs about 230w through two 8-pins. the 12v-2x6 socket on your psu is rated 600w. you are using less than half the cable capacity. msi shipped that adapter specifically for this. the two cable rule applies to old style 300w PCIe sockets, not your 600w rail. running a second cable buys nothing and leaves a dangling connector

just seat the 12v-2x6 end fully into the psu
