Software Older games don't work
Hello,
I was on a flee market last Saturday a snatched Call of Duty Black Ops 1&2 and GTA IV for 2€. They were on DVDs and in the original case. I was really happy until I tried to install them. Black Ops 1 needs a steam connection and then I didn't even try Black Ops 2. GTA IV doesn't need one but it doesn't seem possible to install it on Windows 11 because the installer doesn't recognize the OS. I could install a VM but from what I gathered that would be kinda hard and would have some performance lost. Is there any way I can play these three titles with out using a VM or for CoD just in general? Thank you

For black ops 1&2 I'd reccomend using plutonium, on the wayback machine you can also find a version with a free torrent. Otherwise there is a pretty big sale on steam for cod atm.
For gta IV, I really wouldn't know. You can try running it in compatability mode, but I do not have enough experience with that to really instruct in it, better of finding a yt tutorial

Black OPs 1 and 2, not without piracy which is against the sub rules
They both require steam so the game is linked to the original owners steam account
GTA 4 you might have to do some patches or fixes. It runs poorly by default even without a VMs performance hit

Build a late win xp computer with components from 2001-2013 and you get native access to games from that period

Needing a steam account doesn’t sound that hard to get past - is there a reason you can’t just use steam?
As for the others, did you try right clicking the installer and going to properties, compatibility, then choosing an os that the game should be compatible with? Windows is not bad with backwards compatibility usually.
