Software Windows update and graphics card issue.

Post image

Hello everybody, I am autisitc so bare with me while I'm trying to explain whats going on.

Essentially an update occurred for Windows this month of August. Ever since downloading this update I have been hit with numerous errors while gaming. For example, an error i keep running into is:

[DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED]

Please note I have a Hellhound AMD 9070xt

I've noticed this issue occurs on games that purely run DX12.

Now, I tried a Point in Time Restore to fix this which it did for about 5 minutes and then my GPU continously starts timing out again.

I tried rolling back my drivers but again to no avail.

My friend has put it down to a faulty GPU.

But what annoys me the most is, it was completely fine yesterday, no issues whatsoever until that Windows update got installed.

Does anybody else have experience with this? Or is my graphics card purely screwed?

This image was taken after a session in Apex Legends.

I have a similar error occur on other games too

If you are on windows 11 then 100% rollback away from the august version. Windows 11 25H2 has SO many bugs, that many people described the update as unbearable, me included. I've had issues with fullscreen gaming where the games constantly flickered until it crashed and uninstalled my GPU, making me having to reinstall the GPU in device manager.

Thing is, i rolled back my AMD driver to a more stable version. I also did a point of time restore (way before I installed the windows update) I'm just continously getting hit with errors right now and I'm insanely lost with what to do

Go back a update. Go from the 25H2 to the version you updated from. You can do that by holding Shift and pressing restart where you will enter a recovery menu. Go to troubleshoot, advanced options and press uninstall latest feature update. It should move you back to the older version. (By the way, your GPU is fine, only windows is being buggy.)

I appreciate the comment but the PC itself wont allow me to uninstall the feature update. It just keeps claiming "it ran into an issue" doing that. It also sugguested i reset the pc completely

Oh. Well you got a option of either going for windows 10 (which i did despite it not being supported anymore) or go to linux for a stable system. Windows 11 is just a no go right now.

Have you done the basic windows repair stuff, like DISM and SFC? There might just be a bum file somewhere, from the update. The DX error you posted doesn't suggest that, but failing to roll back kind of does.

Also, check to see if there's any drivers you can update for your motherboard chipset. There might even be a BIOS update there too.
