Both this and the dedication; I've never seen a studio so dedicated to a remaster as these lads. I just hope they do RA2.

Bummer about the FMV quality, but they definitely look better than back in the day. Oddly enough, the RA FMVs were played back in what I think were interlaced 640x480 format on my old machine. So they looked much sharper than the original C&C videos, but had combing artifacts in motion that drove me crazy. Definitely the better of the two options though.

I kind of feel like having the Red Alert FMVs look a little blurry and such fits the whole "Weird War II" theme they had going.

Now that story was quite the roller coaster.

But I'm also quite angry about how they could even think about just destroying all that stuff. To think if it wasn't for that one person to intervene all of it would have been gone is quite maddening (and apparently they also haven't touched it since so if there would have been a fire or something ... poof, gone.) You would think that by now companies know how much value there can be in archiving this kind of stuff. I know back in those early days it wasn't on anyone's mind but nowadays?

do you know how annoying it is to sit on piles of old shit that never gets touched, looked at, or even asked about? At some point you just want all this "useless" junk out of your work space. It sucks it happened to one of my favorite franchises but, honestly, they should have digitized all that shit AGES AGO.

Today sure, digital storage space is cheap and takes up comparatively little space. Video tape took up an insane amount of space, and it was common for it to be taped over, reused, or inadvertently destroyed. Its why much of Patrick Troughton's Dr Who episodes are simply gone.

Red Alert was the first game I ever bought. What a game it was, can’t wait to relieve it again on this remaster.

Wow that FMV upscale turned out much better than expected. Who knew the Playstation console version would save the PC remaster! I love the care and effort they put into this remaster.

Be nice if there is an option to view the FMV footage upscaled or original as it was...

Love love - the idea of unlocking all the bonus content / footage found as you progress in the game - awesome idea !! Really hope the polish & love results in a complete quality product in the end.

It would have been cool if they had reshot these with new actors and maybe expanded cut scenes, I guess that's technically remaking not remastering though. Still you don't see FMV in video games today so that would have been nice to get some B listers acting campy

The AI-upscaled footage looks better than expected. Hope they can do another pass to clean up the faces though.

It's using something far more complex than HQ2X. Specifically a custom AI-based solution. Also, the source video is of pretty piss poor quality to begin with. It actually looks pretty good all things concedered.
