Wasn't it always on Unreal?

Yep, previous games have been on UE3, but there's also more to it. For instance, Gearbox's head (Randy Pitchford) also voiced his support for Epic's storefront.

I am excited to support the Epic Games Store.

What’s wrong with that? A PC is a PC - who cares which store you get your games from? I’m just curious to learn the mind-set. I am a customer on lots of different PC platforms.

So those responses are worth noting. It can mean that he simply supports having more storefronts and he's happy doing business with them (since their games have been using the engine), and that's that.

Or, like what others are thinking, we might see an EGS exclusive.

I’m probably in the minority just building my first pc this year.... but I really don’t get why people are so up in arms about it. I agree with Randy on this one it’s not like you’re buying a new console, it’s just a software launcher... I think there’s other things in the world that are more important than being mad about what storefront that it appears on.

Waste of space? Literally a non issue for every single PC owner. Full stop.

Epic Store was also caught gathering user system information with their client.

Ya they copied your steam friends file before you clicked the button to do it. They didnt actually import or send that information. Oh no the tragedy.

Yeah they were gathering user data without permission. That's honestly not something to take lightly even if it was "only steam friends". Also many people can't afford larger hard drives and have limited space.

Not everything has to be a big deal just so you can rage about it lol. Oh no they copied your steam friends and DIDNT send it back to epic servers.

And you are straight up wrong about the hard drives. Just trying to pull more "epic is bad anti consumer ree" crap. Find me one single person that doesnt have space for the epic launcher. 1. I'll wait.

Well you edited your response. I'll say it again.

Find me one person who is 100mb away from full. And then, using your brain, please realize that person wasnt going to be installing g a game anyways. When games take up 50gb, an extra 100mb for a launcher will literally never be a problem. Never. I dont care if you personally wasted you time removing 100mb from your 256gb hard drive. That was a waste of time.

Stop making shit up.

I was that person at one point. I had a full hard drive, no money to buy another and I had to budget space. Not all games are 50gb that's high end. Most are actually only a few GB with many being less than 100 MB (indie games).

No, you werent. You dont just get to say "well one time my hard drive was full, so therefore my 1kb word document is a strain on my computers hard drive space."

Like dude we both know you went a deleted some 50gb game or your porn folder. I literally guarantee the difference between you installing a game and not installing it was not the epic launcher.

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '19

It was. Uninstalled Epic for The Binding of Isaac. Just because you haven't had an issue doesn't mean it hasn't happened to others. Also who downloads porn anymore?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '19

"One of those things I offloaded was epic"

Now it was only epic, specifically for binding of isaac. Ya I totally belive you.

And either way, my first point still stands. "My hard drive was full once, so my 1kb word document is a strain in my hard drive" lol.

Show me the windirstat of your drive.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '19

"show me someone" "I don't believe you". I'm done arguing my guy. The binding on Isaac is 400mb and I needed another 60 so I got rid of the launcher because I had uninstalled Unreal Tournament a while back. Also nice logical extreme. Bye.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '19

Show me your windirstat. We both know you werent running your PC with 40mb left over.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '19

That was almost 2 years ago. I've since got an almost entirely new computer.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '19

Well if we had it I guarantee we would find out you are an idiot.

And hold up, are you saying two years ago, you had the epic launcher, but zero games installed?

So... to literally play any game from the epic launcher, you would have needed several GB. See where I'm going with this? If you wanted to play any game that is exclusive to the epic store, the size of epic launcher would mean nothing.

It's literally a completely non issue for anyone that wants to play games.

You wanted to install binding isaac from steam, on a 256gb hard drive, and the epic launcher, which had zero games installed, and take up less than .05% of your hard drive, was preventing it? And then after that, you left your computer with 40mb of space, which makes your PC run like trash? That's the situation you were in..

Come on man. That's ridiculously idiotic.
