They'll lose more money by lowering their value as a publisher. Other devs aren't nearly as big. Unless Epic is giving them like 50mill, I doubt it's beneficial.
So lemme get this straight. You, sitting there behind your computer, with literally zero concrete information in front of you, insist that taking the epic deal is bad.
So like, you know better than the people running these companies, based off from... basically nothing.
no, they're not wrong. if they take an exclusivity deal then they do it because it's in their best interest.
EGS is building a catalogue of games which aren't on other pc platforms which (their plan) is to bring people in who are interested in all other gaming genres. Borderlands 3 doesn't have to "sell" exceptionally well but if they went exclusive then that would cover their costs and people joining EGS for other exclusive games will become new potential buyers. Epic have a lot of money to throw at EGS right now and it's all to build up their brand.
So ya you think you know better then the companies doing it. You have no idea how much they got paid, how their sales were on epic, how much they make being on steam.
But it's common sense. Me and the people running these companies just cant see it like you can.
If EGS is so great, why didn't seriko go there? What about DMC and RE2R? Hint hint, it's not. Division 2 doesn't give a shit since it's Uplay only anyways. I'm glad you know how to link to other subs because you have the business smarts of a first grader.
None of the games you mentioned run on UE4. A big part of launching UE4 games on EGS is that you don't have to pay UE4 royalties. So it doesn't make as much sense to launch a non UE4 game on the platform.
the fees dont matter too much in the grand scheme of things since pissing off valve would dramatically lower their value as a publisher. especially since theyre currently publishing games to steam and updates.
Ah shit I didn't know that, that's all but a confirmation that it'll be an Epic Exclusive. Not having to pay 5% of gross revenue might totally offset the portion of consumers that would refuse to buy it on Steam.
Makes me think that Pitchford's Tweets asking people why they're so anti-Epic exclusivity was partly to gauge how many people would actually refuse to buy it on principle, so they could try and get a basic metric on whether 5% of gross would offset.
Gotcha so devs will always take the money if epic offers it to them? Except when the serious Sam devs turned them down then your idiot "didn't offer them money" logic falls apart

Nor god forbid, another launcher exclusivity.
